what does this mean?
Aiga = American Institute of Graphic Arts. It is a professionals association of graphic designers in the USA that have local chapters around the country.
They meet on a regular basis for meetings, conferences etc to discuss design exchange ideas etc.
The person who did this (Stefan Sagmeister) randomly decided to "design" a poster for one of the meetings although a design firm was already commisioned to do one.
Needless to say his poster was used instead and he made a part of design history ( yes he cut himself doing the poster! )... the last interesting fact is because it was for the Detroit chapter there's only a limited number of members so only 1000 posters were made!
One of them is displayed at the Moma in New York now
