It just kind of reminds me of how he builds a set, it's always the kind of chugging tech house/minimal/prog stuff that just has this warm pulsing sound that permeates the entire set. And even though that warm kind of chuggy pulsey feeling provides the underlying feel of the set, each section is distinct and unique from the previous one that it really feels like one cohesive story.
I really like this one Clovis - Maybe as much as Red Line. It's definitely gotten 4 or 5 plays this week while I've been splitting time between writing papers and whoring TA...
Keep up the good work m8 - Can't wait to actually play a set with you sometime! |
Don't take it personal, please. I respect your taste in music and I think you bring some pretty good ideas to the table.
Burridge, in my opinion, has not really challenged the current minimal/tech house trend, at the moment. I remember his old GU mixes, and they were filled with saxophones, tribal drums, subtle vocal/choruses and subliminal messages (fear and loathing-and so on).
Nowadays, perhaps of his constant touring and snitches inside the studio has lost a certain kind of "spark", the "spark" that made his GU mixes timeless.
I still remember going out of Sander kleinenberg's Space Terrace party in Miami 05, walking up to my room, lying down the sofa and enjoying what was left of the morning while listening to his Nubreed compilation. It was a great experience.
