how do you explain hip hop then ? It's got massive appeal on the world stage and is full of internal as well as external conflict.
The 'scene' as you put it doesn't make an impact on the world stage because most people don't like electronic music. They don't value it as 'real music', they associate clubs as drug dens and clubbers as drugged out kids with nothing better to do on a friday then get smashed at a club for 12 hours stright. Negativity exists in every scene - hell, in some scenes, it's the negativity and beef that gives the scene its appeal.
If people don't police threads, soon you get assholes who start to rant everyday about topics that only matter to them. The right to free speech is a double edged sword.
Sometimes you just need to stand up and tell the other man to shut the fuck up! |
im talking about toronto's dance scene's impact on the world dance stage.
For the record, dance music is huge around the world. Just as big as hip hop. Just not in the US and Canada.

It's big in Europe, and some parts of South America (metropolitan centers). Not the entire world. Hip hop is bigger in terms of mass appeal. |
asia, parts of africa etc etc
Anywhere ive been other than here, dance music was as up front and centre as hip hop and in many cases even more popular. And anytime anyone ever mentions canada when it comes to dance music they usually talk about montreal.
