As the oldest of six, I got out as soon as I graduated high school. Don't get me wrong, I love my siblings to death. But when you are 19 and you have 13, 7, 4, 2 year old brothers and a 1 year old sister, enough noise is enough noise.
However, I got really lucky in every way possible. I landed a lucky job during high school doing computer tech support. When I left I was making the same income as my dad (mom is stay-at-home mom for obvious reasons), and I moved out and got a place with one of my best friends, during which time I landed a huge raise and I now make over double what my parents do. But obviously this has drastically reduced my desire to go to college..... I stayed with my buddy for a year and then moved into my current place where I am happily married.
If you're going to college, it's a whole different ball-game. |
Wow must be a nice income considering your parents can raise 6 kids on half the salary.
