The funny part about that comment, that actually reminds me of ATB's track list the last time he was here......

it makes me wonder if some people play what they play because they get complaints in less "trance friendly" locations from people who havent heard any of the newest stuff...

or maybe its just because they miss some of the old tunes?

No it is because trance sucks it gets massively owned by its upstanding brother techno. And by its little sister house.

Love Poundin' Sensation

pish!

trance rocks my socks! I cant help it though... i just like the pretty stuff besides, its less likely to make my ears bleed after 2 minutes (thank god for heavy duty earplugs!)

i always wonder if most of the crowd is wearing hearing protection as well... or if its just me... i seriously cant handle more than 1 or 2 min without popping in the 33db's

is it just me?

yeah, its interesting... because i know a lot of people who enjoy clubbing, and they always talk about their ears ringing and not being able to hear after the show etc... and that terrifies me completely!

I think ever since I did a bit of damage a few years ago (i still have pretty amazing hearing, but there is slight ringing sometimes) i feel really strongly about artists/dj's etc promoting hearing protection to all clubgoers and music lovers in general...

I cant imagine what a few years of clubbing could do to someones hearing in the long run

Funny you brought this up. A DJ who will remain nameless came last month and performed at my club. Well, in a 5000 sq ft. low ceiling club, we had 14,000 Amps of power running on an EAW sound system. It tested out at 133 db's!!! Well, this DJ was so deaf, not only did he have a 3rd self powered monitor brought in, he ran the system booth monitors at full blast all night and blew the amp!!!! Talk about hearing problems!!!!

That sucks. I don't have any ringing in my ears and I don't want any, but yeah it is best to protect your hearing.

and Progress, that DJ is well known for being a deaf bastard.

that's insane! the worst [and best! ] experience i've had was picotto & tenaglia @ crobar NYC -- constant ringing for a solid two days after the party. i cannot imagine being exposed to that on a regular basis and hope the staff [at least] are wise enough to wear ear protection.

We designed the sound system to have a dead spot at all the bars so the staff was protected. It was significantly lower, so low you could have a normal conversation and hear easily what a customer wanted without having to yell.
