This is not really a good way of tackling this problem, specially regarding (2): A few years ago, a child here in Brazil said he was sexually abused by his teachers. Hell broke loose, the press crucified the so-called aggressors and, some weeks later, they found out the kid had fantasised about the whole thing.

But, by then, the nursery school had already been closed, and they couldn't just get any of the kids back.

You know what's great? This law will never pass because the government isn't allowed to tell parents how to raise kids. There's child abuse, and there's spanking. Spanking != abuse.

Right, there are already laws in place to prevent abusive spanking. This law wouldn't stop abuse.

Irresponsible parents should be fucking spanked, not responsible parents who use a quick whack on the ass to teach a child right from wrong when alternatives aren't working.
