Um, yes. If Sonic plans on bringing Red Circle back, which I think they will and should, isn't it their best interest to help Red Circle gain more traction and fans by supporting them on other nights? The more fans they have, the more people will show up at Sonic the next time they play. Think about it.
Furthermore, the core Guv djs (M&S, Nathan Barato, Addy, Sydney Blu, Dekoze, Carlo Lio, etc.) with large followings play almost weekly at the Drink, Gallery, TIL, Footwork, Hotel, CZ, etc. Cross promotion is a solid business practice, my friend.
Finally, Clyde, Toi Bar is tiny. It is not one of Sonic's saturday night afterhours competitors.

Some people choose to party more than once a week and others only once per week for whatever reason. If you owned Sonic would you promote another club? First of all, let me clearly state that I am not an employee or promoter for Sonic...I just like the club and the DJs and crowds it can draw. And therefore, I'd like it to stay in business.
Sonic is an afterhours club...they do not make money from booze sales but ONLY from pop/water sales and door charge. Toi and others can subsidize the DJs with booze sales...you are down $21 plus tip just for 3 beers there, with a gross profit of almost $17 from the sale!
It is in Sonic's best interest to build PARTNERSHIPS with other clubs to co-promote their afterhours business. Sonic does not compete with these clubs anyway...their hours and nights are different...so are their business models.
To boost afterhours attendance on Friday/Saturday nights, Sonic should advertise/promote at College St. and King St. bars etc. in order to get those people who want to go out after the booze bars close to come to Sonic. As a matter of fact, Sonic should give these bars color coded wrist bands (coded for each bar, eg. Toi = green band) to hand out to their customers that would entitle people with wristbands to a $5-15 discount for cover at Sonic. That covers the cab fare to Sonic for the customer. The promoting bar (Toi etc) gets a little fee for each wrist band that gets used at the Sonic door.
For those of you who feel "cheated" that you paid $20 to see Red Circle at Sonic and would see them "free" on Thursday at Toi...well, you are just not doing adding up all the numbers. Look at how much you spend on drinks at a regular bar...the drinks are at 80% plus margin...all that money pays for the DJs etc. Its not really "free". And you are listening to the music in a room barely bigger than the Sonic main bathrooms and with a sound system 1/5th the quality of Sonic's. And, remember, its Thursday night...you are likely only having a few drinks and going home....not an "afterhours" experience, if ya know what I mean.
