Just let it go guys. I'm sorry that some of you got all butt-sore over my defending the newbies. I'll continue to help others while you guys continue to belittle them. I will continue to feel that belittling them in the name of "entertainment" is in poor taste and character. I will continue to help those who want it because I feel it it's what is best for the music as a whole.

I didn't read your responses because I have nothing left to prove, say, or justify to you or anybody. I do just fine with my productions, my work, and my life with or without your commentary. I don't feel the need to have to validate myself by talking down others or over publicising my own accomplishments for the attention. So if you feel the need to justify yourselves even further, then feel free to quote me to your heart's content.

Oh, you read it all right, particularly the part where I asked what you've personally contributed. You just chose not to respond directly, and I think the reasons are quite obvious.

Even with correct spelling and punctuation, a troll is still a troll.

Well, at least you can admit you have nothing to say.

I'll share any knowledge I get if someone asks. Theres no secret to producing music and it kind of bugs me when people suggest there is or when they are coy about what gear they use and how they used it. I used to be really in awe of electronic music and how it was made - especially old breaks and trance tunes and that 303 sound. But then I got a AudioRealism bassline and realised that a child could program a 303 and that these sounds relly aren't difficult to make if you know what tools you need and how you use them.

I don't see how this industry can innovate or grow if future pioneers do not build on the work of those that came before them. Sometimes I feel like we are just treading water in the sense that many of us learn only enough to get by and that just seems to do.

Instead of building on foundations laid by others, we build from the ground up and alot of us are not making any huge progress over anyone else that was in the industry before us. I have no problem laying down foundations for other people. I just love music and wan't to hear more great trance.

I spend vast amounts of time trying to learn a standard of production which most people are indifferent to. Do you not want to do better than that? I don't mind people using my work or my patches or my tutorials if they go on to eventually create something amazing with it.

In turn, that makes me sit up and go 'whoa, this guy has done something amazing - now I have to beat it' and I work harder as a consequence. I think everyone does. Its just healthy competition in my eyes. I just feel like dance music has been in stasis for a long time. In places it has almost regressed (just listen to the myriad of boring ordinary average psytrance tunes which have every single production trick in the book - the sampler stutter edit to name just one example. In my humble opinion alot of them are just showcases for production tricks that anyone can learn on a sound engineering night course).

I think that if everyone shared their knowledge it would be better for everyone.

After listening to the Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex soundtrack it just made me realise the kind of potential there is to really up the ante - this is soundtrack work which has some dancey tunes which are better than pretty much every club hit I've heard this year. Better in production, better in concept, performance and execution.

If anyone has any questions (that have not been answered in the fucking FAQ) I'll help you. Maybe they will return the favour some day when I get stuck in a rut.

I also think its funny that pretty much every single person whose work I respect (including many academic writers through my English degree) don't treat their work as some sort of great secret, or that you need some special skill in order to do it.

I believe that's because the people who are truly great understand that the greatness is not in the concept, but its execution.

The finer details also tend to come instinctively to those people, so it's no surprise that they don't think of it as a big deal.
