Yeah.

It really is depressing...just the whole situation of it all. Most of the people in those situations don't even want to live anymore...but it's not like they're palliative, so they're kept alive in the nursing homes. Same shit everyday...wake up, morning care, meds, eat, toilet, back to bed for a bit, maybe some activity, lunch, more meds, more toilet, more sleep..and so on and so on.

The facility where I do my placement is awesome though. The nurses make all the difference in the quality of care. They're basically these people's surrogate family and they do a damn good job of caring for them.

I liken long term care facilities to purgatory. Not dying, but not really living either. Sucks.

i love the outdoors and having a nice patio too, but honestly, it's not at the top of my list as far as features goes since i've been apartment hunting. i like to open up the blinds and let the sun in, but a patio isn't crucial for me. i probably wouldn't be out there much. if i want to be outdoors, i go outdoors...to the beach or the park or something. but i see what u mean about chillin out there while f'd up...kinda like at the Fountain Blue

living near the beach makes it lower on the list for things you want. i know that im 10mins from the beach and i dont NEED a patio but it is sure nice to have one.

hahaha, EXACTLY like that! man i think we spent more time on that balcony than in the actual hotel room.

my biggest goal when i start apartment hunting this summer is just to find a place that is unique. i don't even care if it's an old building (Milwaukee actually has lots of old buildings/duplexes with tons of character)... i just really want a place that isn't a box with 4 white walls and berber carpeting. i've lived in so many apartments over the last 6 years and i just hate how they've all pretty much been the same.

My problem is that the apartment I lived in with Craig in downtown Miami was pretty sick. Granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, ocean view, etc… You saw it. It was pimp, but we were splitting the rent (1 bedroom), so it was totally doable for us.

But now that I’m looking for 1 bedrooms, I’m looking for places with all of those amenities lol. I’m going to be spending most of my free time at my place because I’ll be in school and I’ll have lots of studying to do, so I want my place to be nice if I’m going to be there a lot you know? But it’s fuckin expensive down here! I’m trying to find someone with a house who is renting out a room who isn’t home that much. That would be ideal but if I’m not having any luck by the end of this month, I’m just gonna have to bite the bullet and pick a place, even if it’s not all pimped out like my last place.

heh, yeah that place was really nice. reminds me of the place i had when i first moved out to Milwaukee. it was a 1 bedroom 10th floor high-rise in a great area downtown, looking out over the lake. rent was $1100 but i was splitting it with my bf at the time so it didn't seem that bad... but man it was tough to go from that to a tiny 3rd floor studio only 1 street away, with 1 window and a view of a brick wall, lol.

as shitty as it was, i miss that studio like hell sometimes. it was my first official "on-my-own" apartment in Wisconsin (i had previously lived with my bf, aunt and uncle, subleased my friend's place, etc)... and i fucking partied nonstop when i was living there. the sink was the size of a shoebox so i never cooked, but my fridge was always stocked with beer and the entire top of the cabinets was lined with random liqour bottles, lol.

lol like a dude.

Yea a big part of me wants my own place, but I think I need to just put that goal on the back burner right now. My education is more important than my pride of having my own place.

I actually found a listing for a 4 bedroom 3 bathroom house and there are 2 chicks living there and renting out one of the rooms, both in their mid 20’s and one is in real estate, the other in advertising. They have a small dog and the house is on the water with wood floors, the whole 9 yards…it looks sweet. Only $750 a month plus another $150 probably for utilities. I’m really skeptical of living with 2 women though. I think that might be a little much, but damn the house looks so nice. She is already emailing me pictures of her dog and is like, "here's my little monster! hehe"

haha, yeah, seriously... if you can stand to live with your mom, i say do it for as long as possible. i'd totally still be living at home if i was living in NY (especially considering how rent prices in NY are, i'm guessing not too different from rent in Miami).

i wish i had the option of living with my mom, or even a cool roommate. unfortunately i don't know many folks out here and it would sketch me out if i had to search for roommates on craigslist or something. i just can't fathom getting into a commitment like that with someone i don't know. luckily i'm financially stable enough that i can afford to live alone, but it still sucks paying rent and all my bills totally on my own.

No worries babe, I was just taking the proverbial piss to you - After all, I know how much you like watersports!

PS: I found out transferring might be easy, but if I can still graduate in December from here, I'm going to go with that option!

Either way, James is helping me out - big time!
