gym equipment has mats, other safty messures that are put in place for the protection of children. The function of stairs is to get you from one floor to another.... its not gym equipment!

cause of the body snatchers???? whats gotten into ta?

Nothing has gotten into TA, it's called a difference of opinion.

Obviously the kids aren't asked to sprint up the stairs, you go at a slow pace which is not unsafe at all. Maybe we should just bubble wrap and make them wear armour, so all the kids don't get hurt.

do you really think that a group of eight year old kids in gym class is going to go up and down stairs in a slow pace?? c'mon now.

I'm not going to debate this anymore. It has nothing to do with the topic at hand. You all can have your opinion, and I will have mine.

RIP to the kid.

Yeah 8 year olds are too young to do that kind of thing. Maybe just some jumping jacks and stretching. Then dodgeball.

I imagined a fat kid hating the excercise so much he stopped and decided to bash his head into the ground to get out of doing the work out.

Please forgive me.

BTW, I don't think what really happened is funny... just my little scenario that I came up with seemed funny.

I wonder what happened... maybe a brain aneurism?

Welcome to the dark side m'dear.

lol @ vince for not understanding that people just aren't agreeing with him.

the stairs are not the issue. unfortunately, the child would have died any other way. even running in a padded room. poor little guy and i also feel bad for the whole school because i am sure many of them haven't even been exposed to death yet and this makes it hard for them to understand.

i do think it's not the most creative type of exercise for the kids but it's not bad.

we used to run stairs as warm up all the time.

the little kids like running everywhere.
