so ur mad at him for bringing edm fans together, as appossed to everyone being on a different team....

No, because it shows that what they think is innovation is really someone copying whats already been done for ages.

If everyone were on the same team trance jocks might play stephan bodzin tracks in lieu of grasshoper, instead of acting like this is the newest and freshest sound when in reality its recycled and borrowed.

And come on man, I'm not trying to bash SVD in here, I think he has done some quality work in the past, I loved Punk'd, but to say this is just fucking ridiculous and shows that either 1. You dont listen to enough music 2. You don't know that other music exists (being another problem in itself).... ->

I guarantee you Tyas and SVD have both seen this thread and are laughing at all these stupid posts.

Haha.

Cheers

Actually Tyas is probably trying to come up with a witty response to post on his site, something definitely including the words "Sander Van Doorn", "fuck", "fucking", "dj mag top 100", and "harder kick".

SvD >>>>> Sean Tyas

no offence to sean, but it seems (even far before this question was thought of), Sander already had this 'status'. and tyas' productions ('remixes') lately only seem to have a non-positive effect here on who-ever critizes his productions. it seems that, after having some nice releases, sean is going downhill atm (according to what ive read here with respect to people's opinions bout him)

I'll agree that Tyas is the clear winner, but the ability to produce at different BPM's and not using the same kick aren't really qualifications for solid production, and I assure you that my disdain for Sander isn't without reason. SvD has never once produced a track that was remotely memorable for me, with the clear exception being "Grasshopper," because no one could never possibly forget how absolutely horrid that tune is. Furthermore, his DJ sets are every bit as incoherent as Tyas', they really seem utterly random and without any sort of flow.

He really doesn't even reach "mediocre" status with me. Personal preference, I guess - but I honestly don't see this amazing "talent" so many people seem to think he has.

tyas's are coherent alright, considering he plays the EXACT SAME STYLE from start to finish without variation.. i'll admit svd's may not be completely consistent but they're still far less predictable and will typically contain a mishmash of different styles that has (at the least) a rough sense of build

not going there with the productions.. since this topic is referring to them as djs

Now is the time in this thread where I post the lyrics to the theme song from the hit 1980's American tv series "Diffrn't Strokes:"

quote:

Now, the world don't move to the beat of just one drum,
What might be right for you, may not be right for some.
A man is born, he's a man of means.
Then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans.

But they got, Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.

Everybody's got a special kind of story
Everybody finds a way to shine,
It don't matter that you got not alot
So what,
They'll have theirs, and you'll have yours, and I'll have mine.
And together we'll be fine....

Because it takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.
Yes it does.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.

I like how majority of the posts are mentioning productions when the OP asked for your opinion on who will be the next big DJ (hell, even the OP mentioned producing).

This makes me even more unsurprised when DJ Mag's top 100 comes out and artists who have completely shit mixing skills are in the top 50 because of their productions.

I had never heard a SvD set or production, well besides his remix of Direct Dizko and saw him live a few weeks back - spun an absolute killer set and in my opinion he does have very creative mixing.

Never heard a set by tyas I don't think..

By the sounds of most people here, you're judging them on their productions (with the exception of a few) or are basing SVD on his internet mix. Has any of you actually seen them live?? You cant compare the two as they have both very differnt styles - and in each respec, are awesome at what they do. Tyas with the more uplifting, fast paced trance gets the whole club going. Sander with his more deep electro sounds keeps the hardcore trancers going to a new level (my mate had to sit down when Sander came on at crasher boxing day - couldn't handle him)!

As for who's going to be better this year, I think Sander has been round for a while, and while he continuess to get better I think Top100 Djs like fresh new faces, which is why I think Tyas is gonna make it big this year.

In my eyes, there's too many to mention. As long as there is a lot of Djs giving me awesome nights, I dont care who's top.

same, Sander is an absolute hoot live.

Don't really like too many of his productions though, none of them really grab me.

Tyas I haven't seen live, he's done some good production work but it is a little same-old-same-old. As a dj I've only heard a promo set but it was alright, nothing which really stood out from the crowd though
