What? So you mean theres no way to beatmatch without me having to adjust the platter while eqing, or even turning on the mixer/decks....or even loading it up with a wikkid track?
Pfft..
I'm out.

NEVER SAID I COULDN'T ALL I SAID WAS THAT ITS ANNOYING HAVING TO, ALSO YOU DO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH CDJ800'S A SIMPLE TOUCH IS STILL ADJUSTING THE PLATTER. THERE'S AT LEAST £1000 WORTH OF EQUIPMENT IN A PAIR OF 800'S AND I THINK NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET CLEAN MIXINGS WITH THEM IS WRONG FOR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THEY COST. ALSO ABLETON IS CHEATING.

have to agree with the majority of this thread. the problem lies with the user not the product. i use 800 mk2s and i do 1 minute mixes and never have to adjust the platter. if i do its a simple touch every now and again. also djing is about multi tasking if you cant control your beats and eq at the same time your in the wrong business. many djs do these do plus loop and record edits at the same time. if you want the machines to do it for you get ableton and auto beat match.

I know its the cdj's as i spent ages trying to mix two of my songs that wouldn't go together. It gets to a point where moving the pitch just one notch 0.05 +/- makes it to fast or to slow hence having to touch the platter to keep it in but why pay all that money (£1000) to have to do that!
I've got a pair of 1000 mk2's and I only ever use the 0.05% pitch increment and never use the 0.02% pitch - and I've never had a problem with beatmatching tunes (ok some might drift off every now and then but nothing major).
Also, not sure if it has already been asked, but if you are using tunes that have been ripped from vinyl or downloaded off file sharing apps then this is your problem without a doubt as vinyl speeds always vary slightly and low quality illegal tunes aren't any good either.
You can tell this straight away in Ableton, drop a legit tune in and it warps it up nicely with just the one warp marker, drop in a vinyl ripped tune or illegal tune and you end up with about 50+ markers trying their best to keep the track in time.

Oh my fucking God.
Finny, YOU are the problem, not your CDJs. RJT was simply stating that if you beatmatch the tracks well enough in the first place then the tracks won't drift for at least a minute without having to make corrections with the platter. Please don't tell me you're using the BPM readout to try and match your tracks.

Im going to have to swerve to Finny's side a little bit on this.
Of course you CAN 99,9% match the tunes with 0.05% pitch increment. But I fail to see the point. Beatmatching so accuratelly would require heaps of time just to check if the beats are perfect before mixing. And I think that it would be a total waste.
A lot more convenient way is to beatmatch "accuratelly enough" and then just nudge the platter in tiny increments while mixing (you are the one with headphones --> you can hear when the beats are a little of the soonest).
And when the beats drift too fast to your liking you can always adjust pitch while in the mix.
I think that this kinda approach is a lot more dynamic and allows more versatility in mixes.
ps: Im not advocating trainwrecks with this post. I think that the audience should never ever be able to hear clashing beats..
