Much more easily said than done...there's reports now that say nicotin is more addictive than heroin. Thats pretty crazy. I would suggest to people that you cut back on cigarettes for a while than once you're down to only a couple a day, then quit. This way even if you take awhile to quit, you'll be hurting yourself less and spending less.

Acupuncture worked best for most people I know that were trying to quit. For example, my dad who was smoking for 30+ years now can't stand the smoke.
When you're in a bar, hold a drink in your hand, chew on a straw (yes, it sounds stupid, but works)
And... a friend of mine who tried to quit but had to hold something in his hands bought himself.. a rosary yeah, he looked like a religious fanatic, but he did quit after a while
