no it doesn't, it is completely the same. it may not be as big commercial ly as whatever the current fad is at the moment but there is still the commercial aspect to it, same as any music. there are tunes that will have mass appeal, and there are certain aspects to these tunes that make them more commercial friendly, such as female vocals talking about love and taking you higher etc etc. this is oceanlab. soups made the comment about john o'callaghan making unoriginal trance and then said he was excited about oceanlab. i really dont think you can say oceanlab is any more original than anything john o'callaghan has done. it probably isn't more original than anything ian van dahl has done or alice dj either. you can have a tune that is unoriginal, bland, brings nothing new but still be a hit because something in it appeals to a wide range of people. that tune will be big, but it could be shit at the same time.

Everything he's done recently has been horrible production wise.
It all sound really amateurish for someone that's meant to be a good producer. Horrible remixes imho.
No idea what he's like DJing but if it's anything like his productions...oh dear.
