In all seriousness, if you're going to pick up equipment, good starter stuff:
If youre gonna do the vinyl thing:
Used Stanton Str8-80s. Direct drive, stable, decent. When you're just starting you won't notice the difference between geminis and techs anyway.
CD Thing:
Denon DN-S1000.
Best compact unit I've ever used. Best bang for the buck without a doubt. Full effects, mp3 capability. Amazing.
I find the pitch bend on the jog wheel of the CDJ200 has a stupid curve to it, nothing like the 800 or 1000. Don't really like the 200 personally.
Mixer Thing:
Numark DMX06. Affordable, digital sound, effects, built like a tank. Option of sideways EQ (which I don't particularly like) or vertical.
You can go even cheaper with a Behringer VMX200. Cheap and mimics the Pioneer DJM mixer series impeccably well. I started with a VMX and there wasnt even a hiccup when switching to a DJM. But, no effects, and not the greatest sound quality (if you're a stickler for that).
Anything else, check the dj/producer forums

i think the best advice youve been given so far is to try TRAKTOR.
its really no different that a pair of cdj 200s and a mixer.
if you can use Traktor without the aid of the automatch functions, its the exact same as spinning with a 200, with the obvious decrease in tactility. it really is.
i played with traktor for a few months prior to my initial purchase of technics.
let me tell you,
i could mix the first time i used them and its because of traktor.
i believe you can even record mixes with Traktor now too.
its an ecellent piece of software and im looking to add a digital component to my setup soon and i wont bother spending at least a g on cd players when i can do the exact same things with Traktor3 for a fraction of the cost.
seriously,
its just the smartest decision.
if you like it and can mix by ear with out using the automix, then youre totally ready to use cd players or record players.
and it will give you the chance to develop a taste for djing without the huge initial investment.
it wont be that easy to sell stuff if you change your mind unless you buy really good equipment.

not really.
thats all stuff youre gonna want to replace eventually. probably within a year.
and you wont be able to sell it.
the truth is: there arent that many people out there who are gonna buy used numark or denon gear.
most people would suggest: buy good stuff and it never has to be upgraded.
i dont see any sense in purchasing equipment you will want to upgrade that will be hard to sell.
pioneer stuff has a great resale value. especially the 1000s.
