The risk doesn't noticeably increase until after age 35. It's not like the risk goes up an equal amount for every year after 30.

My mother had her second child in her second marriage at age 38. She had recently re-married. Sometimes you just can't have them any earlier than that, as was the case with her.

I'd personally want to have a kid before I turn 30. I'm almost 22 now, so I still have lots of time for that goal. I figure if I'm going to bring another life into this world, it's better not to play dice with these things and try to make sure my kid will be perfectly healthy, even if it means my career taking a bit of a dive in its early stages. A big part of being a parent is learning to sacrifice things for your kid, and your perfect career will probably be one of the first things taking a hit. Plus, raising children is both a mentally and a physically demanding task, one that pretty much lasts for 20 years, and I know I'll be able to handle it better when I'm younger than older.

lol Dima wtf, I was born when my mum was 35, and everything is fine, I'm healthy as anyone can be at my 23 years

Just because you're fine doesn't go against what I said. I'm trying to dig up a study on this now, but I'm failing.

No, you are right.

A woman here at the office had her 2nd child at 36, and she had to go through so many more tests and precautions than my co-worker chick here who popped out a baby at 28.

Of course not every kid had after 35 (to pick an age) is likely gonna have 'problems' of some sort.

But the risk does increase, yes, and more concern is justified and warranted. I have no idea what the likelihood of complications is post 30 or 35, though. I'd be interested to learn/find out.

Man, just stop. Yes, there is a 'time limit' on when women can have children...but the same rules don't apply to everyone, and there are exceptions to every rule. It's not the end of the world for women if they choose to have children past the age of 30.

Nobody's denying the risks here, but you're coming off a bit extremist about this.
