That's a bit of a backward logic. If you expect the worst then you will inevitably draw the worst to you. Why not expect the best and do better than you expected?

See the problem is this program that says "you must be correct". Truth is, the more that you are open to being incorrect the more you will challenge yourself, and the wider your circle of experience and acceptance of other truths will grow.

eh i meant more along the lines of hope for the best but dont be too dissapointed if things dont work out.

Ok, I'm all for being positive and all and I think you gotta have a positive outlook on life, but this is taking it a little too far.

What this program talks about is a load, but its impossible to prove it cos as it says in the program "as soon as you stop believing, the universe will prevent it", and then its got the example of the plant about to break through, but as soon as you stop believing it will stop growing and won't break through the surface. So you can't actually argue that it is crap.

However I will say that having a positive outlook is important in life, but it won't work like this program says

My one criticism of The Secret is that it's over simplified. It does not tell you enough about how things (the law of attraction) work.

What it does however, is wrap up nicely in less than 2 hrs some concepts that have been around for centuries and presents them in an easily digestible format for the general TV viewing public. If it were too detailed people would tune out ("it's too much work"), and the production would miss its objective.

Realisation - LIFE IS DIFFICULT and YOU MUST WORK HARD. Accept that first, and then you can begin focusing on improvement.

Problem is - with people being naturally lazy (or preferring to be comfortable), they watch it and assume that all of a sudden they're going to get rich because they know 'the secret'. They don't really believe that what is being taught is true and (again with the programming) they inevitably find ways subconsciously to fail, thus branding the ideas and the show a scam.

What I took out of the DVD was an introduction. There's nothing there that you probably didn't already know, or feel to be somehow correct because you've experienced things in the past and wonder why and how such events occurred.

From there, I set it upon myself to do further research, and that in turn has led me to teachers like Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dwyer, Hicks-Abraham, and others. I've also come across some great and powerful literature such as Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich", Louise Hay's "You Can Heal Your Life", and many others.

Anyways, I've posted lots of stuff about all this on my blog if anyone is interested.

Well obviously it only applies to situations completely out of your control.

If the situation is under your control in some manner, I try to not spend time worrying too much about 'hoping' for the desired result and just devote my time to trying to make that result come about instead.

Be a robot, but don't be square. It's true, being positive is crucial, folks! I've felt and seen the difference between my enjoyment of life when I'm 'positive,' optimistic, and so on; whereas if I'm moody, petulant, and so forth - my emotions envelop me, I grow more egoistic, and instead of welcoming the beauty that is life, I mull over my issues and concerns.
