The comparison of Ibiza to Miami is NOT even close to accurate, how can you claim it's "perfect"! lol

Really dude, you'd be hard pressed not to find someone who wouln't agree that the clubs are the spine of that city (Ibiza), and without them the tourism industry would surely collapse. (I'd argue the whole Ibiza economy would also crumble if the clubs were to be shut down) Whilst Miami has a few shit clubs and doesn't draw anyone to the city in anyway or form (ask Danny T lol)

miami has some pretty bad ass parties...but its a nice place just to go chill also...the club/party scene down there is definitely not what keeps it going!

on another note...i started planning my first trip to ibiza, saving up money to go at the beginning of june to the opening parties and shit...then my friend (who was supposed to be saving money also) told me in march that he wouldnt be able to make the trip with me =( so needless to say i cancelled my plans and decided to hold off until next summer when i have someone to go with.....looks like everything works out for a reason!!

First time I disagree with you man. Comparing Ibiza and Miami in terms of what the tourists go there to see is apples and oranges.

Just read any of the tourist sites about Ibiza, and pretty much all they talk about is the nightlife. That's what separates Ibiza from all the other touristy cities. Other cities have nightlife in addition to other crap you can go see. Ibiza has other crap you can see in addition to nightclubs.

Really. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find anybody outside the "scene" (i.e. most people) who would agree with that sentiment. Essentially, you've said that the comparison to Miami is not valid because:
1. You asked a bunch of clubbers and they all said that the clubs are the "spine". Or, you're just speculating that they would say that. Either way, their word is/would be final!
2. You personally don't like the clubs in Miami as much as Ibiza (and your personal feelings mean everything here).
3. Danny T says that Miami's clubs don't really draw a crowd (as if he would know, and the WMC sales figures tell a different story).

I'm kind of surprised at you Jon, I thought you could do better than unattributed hearsay and emotional hand-waving.

Most of the clubs you're talking about are in Ibiza Town, a tiny little dot on the southeast corner of the island. There's Sant Antoni of course, but the "night life" there is really not EDM-centric.

It wouldn't surprise me too much if this crass, arrogant attitude were part of the reason why some of the locals are so upset. They just need to realize that it's not meant to be patronizing, it's more of a religious love and fervor. Ibiza is the clubber's Mecca.

privledge and amnesia are in the hills between san an and eivissa.
space and bora bora are in playa den bossa.
eden and es paradis are in san an.
underground is in sant rafael
pacha and el divino are in eivissa.

and san antoni is edm based. there was one bar in all of the west end that played hip hop and another that had a retro night..a party mainly for workers

also, the villages on the island were TINY. although there are places to go that are completely separate from the clubbing scene, the numbers were tiny in each place AND a lot were villas rented out to rich and/or older clubbers

i have to disagree.

having been to the island, i realized that Ibiza is *NOT* a clubbing island. there are numerous towns and villages around the island that are completely independent from the edm scene. there's this city an hour NE of Eivissa about 10k people comprised mainly of old folks. There are family vacation spots and beaches all around, to which visited, i realized that the tourists were mostly non clubbers. and the city of Eivissa itself, has an established shopping district, with an ancient castle/city with european restaurants that have been around for decades, a long time before the edm explosion.

so just b/c a few *druggy* clubs have been shut down for a month or two is NOT THE END OF THE WORLD. the island will survive without the edm scene, it's like the Hawaii of Europe. the island has been around for HUNDREDS of years...

i can completely understand why alot of people on this thread are whining like it's the end of the world. unless you've been there, and have actually toured around the island instead of just partying straight.. you will realize that there is FAR MORE to this island than just edm.
