And the 'keyboard' on the iphone is any bigger?

It's alright to be an apple fan boy, but technology is technology. It will only be a short time before the iPhone is trumped and something better comes along.

Novelty only lasts for a short time now-a-days.

I think you have to be on crack to choose a Sony W800i to a iPhone for many reasons, first of all every aspect of the iPhone is better. Maybe its more expensive but Apple have invested Millions in development of the iPhone, what have Sony achieved over the past 12 month's, a Basic standard phone with the basic 1999 firmware design with small screen etc. I actually own a K750i and even though it stable is very poor.

Not many companies have managed to achieve what apple have, even Microsoft Zen was a major flop, with the amount of profit Nokia, Sony, Etc are turning over each year and you don't really see much changes do you in phones ?. Im glad Apple have managed to create this device for many reasons.

As for the keypad the Iphone uses sensor technology, compared to the old style keypads which have to be pushed rather than touched makes a major difference, if your looking for a basic phone then yes buy a standard mobile, but if you are a palm top addict then get a iphone.

And that is the loss of the tactile feel of typing, which sucks.

I like to be able to feel that I have pressed a button.

My wizard has served me well

The company I work for prolly won't supply the Kaiser tbh, they do contract signings, so it is most likely that only the networks will supply them, if they actually take them on.

It is only because you are use to typing with keys, I bet eventually keys will be replaced by touch screen sensor technology, not many mobile devices have touch screens these days, I guess you can only try it out and test it.

Overall I think its down to personal interest, but If I had $500 to spend on a new phone I would buy the Iphone, and sell my Ipod Video.

It has everything you need, including Wifi and Youtube , with apple doing deals with Google , the Map GPS Technology will be awesome.

Apple has never created a phone before. Other companies have. All the iPhone is, is a fancy handheld cpu with a phone attachment. This is like the next round of blackberry. With a price tag of 600 a pop, you are paying for the name and you are paying for status. Would I really want to waste 3 days of pay on a phone? Fuck no. But some people are quite liberal with their usage of money and the younger they are, the less likely it is that they can truly afford it without some drawbacks in the near future.

Do you really want the iPhone because of the features it has (which in reality is nothing fancier than your typical internet enabled phone)? Or are you getting it because it is an iPhone and people will say "Wow can i see" and "damn you have one, that is so cool"

The fact is in a few months there will be a large amount of people saying 'why the fuck did I spend 600 dollars on a phone.'

With their touch technology... what happens if you drop it, or bump it, or nudge it? Ooops. More money on insurance for that.

Personally I think it is a waste. It is a first gen. Let the bugs get worked out, let the price drop 400 dollars and then go in if it is still the 'hot thing'

But it's your money and do as you please. I am not going to waste half of a month's rent on unproven technology.
