Surprisingly, bars were empty.

The positive side is that I did not need to go restroom so often and when I went there was no line.

The main arrays were in stacks of 9 but I know you need at least 10 for them to get the best possible sound and get a 'coupling advantage' I was down the street when I was walking to the event and didn't really hear the music all that well and when I got in, the sound seemed to be turned down. On the right side from the crowd's perspective, it seemed that something got stuck in the driver of one of the woofers because there was an awful sound that made it seem like the driver got blown out or who knows what. Later, that annoying sound went away maybe because they turned off that woofer somehow.

Later throughout the night, the bass got really loud and I agree with you guys, it was impossible to hear the vocals in many of the tracks. I think the engineer behind the board was turning up the bass continuously throughout the night. After about 6 hours, my hearing got really bad and I knew what tracks he was playing but I think my hearing got to the point where it sounded like the melodies coming out of the speaker of those songs didn't correspond with the ones in my head. Either the remix was a new "dub mix" or my hearing got warped! I also saw heat lines coming off of the woofers and thats something that I have never seen happen before! I liked the sound for the most part but there was an overabundance of bass. There is such thing as subtractive EQ and maybe the engineer should try that. I wish I heard the lyrics to some of those tunes because I was tracklisting the whole night and I had nothing to put down for some of those vocal IDs.

At one point during the night there there was a guy on the side of the stage trying to get someone's (the sound guy's?) attention. Something wasn't right.

I got there at 8:30, and there was no line to get in, which was a huge plus from last year.

I think they had the same amount of restrooms (which weren't enough last year), but they split them up into two places. I prefer port-o-potties than the flooding trailers, but to each his own...

Yes, the sound was off. It wasn't awful, but I did have problems with the highs as others have said.

It was too hot in the garage. I couldn't stay in there more than a couple minutes of a time...I would rather be dancing outside anyway.

But, everyone was cool, it was a beautiful night (not like last year, OMG), and they didn't run out of water.

I really don't think the $7 waters are a huge deal; just know you're going to spend a decent amount of $ on them. (at Coachella, I budget at least $40/d for water...that's 20 bottles!)

IMHO, I think they went overboard last year (3 stages + tent) with a ton of talent...this year they completely scaled it down to try and make a profit. I would rather see 2 stages (rather than 1 stage + the parking garage); one with house and the other with trance.

Maybe the 3rd year will be the best?

Sound was OK when I entered. Around 11PM or so, speakers started to fart. I looked at the sound guy and he was not even paying attention. Then, I thought the problem might be on Armin's side. Sound on the left side was very bad. In the center, it was best but still mediocre. Around VIP, sound wasn't that bad either. Either, they adjusted the speakers so they sound OK for the VIP or one of the speaker blew up.

Ghost Smilie shocking surprise

Sorry for the intrusion, but I've been asked to point out that Kristina Sky was spotted at the event, but did not make her way backstage... to the great relief of pretty much all of us there (and the big man on stage)

Done.

Philippe wanted to share hair club secrets with AvB and was afraid she'd get in the way.

"I’m a dance floor favorite? Great! I would say the passion that I feel for the music I buy and the honesty with how I play it. I play the records I love not the ones that simply work. I’ve never taken the easy music option (which would make me a lot more money by the way) but chosen to push people a little. I try to draw people in a new direction slightly and expand their taste a little more than other DJ’s." - Lee Burridge

My Rank 1 videos from saturday:

Armin vs. Rank 1 - This World Is Watching Me

Rank 1 - Airwave

And a few pics HERE

Besides the songs on the videos, Rank 1 also played Life Less Ordinary, Superstring and Communication. Their set was definitely the highlight of the evening for me. Susana did a good job too but Armin bored me to death with the progressive and fluffy trance songs that all sounded the same to me. I was hoping to hear more than 3-4 harder songs but at least he played my current fav King of My Castle (SvD remix) Btw, I agree about the sucky sound. Even a couple of performers pointed it out....
