You'd find that nobody would get on at you if you didn't worry so damn much about being understood clearly. You often make perfectly agreeable points that can have relevance to the discussion, but you manage to make them very irritating by putting them in such a tedious way. If you did it in real life, you'd be the kind of person who you'd have a conversation with in the pub, but they'd keep banging on and on about the same thing until the subject matter becomes utterly boring or unfunny.

Seriously, chill out. It isn't some horrible faux-pas to be misunderstood on the Internet. What you'll actually find is that if you make a concise point that's misunderstood, you can reply to the person who's misunderstood and clear up the issue easily, because you can tell what they've got wrong. You don't do that- you carpet bomb your point and don't give chance for people to misunderstand it, in the process smothering your actual point.

Next time you make a post, pause before hitting "Submit" and just cut out every sentence where you're repeating a point.

I'll do that, but you also have to cut the attitude of yours with me that I'm always full of shit. I can't stand that online or in real life. I had that trouble with a guy named DJ Intrigue, but he doesn't participate as much anymore so i've had no issues. Sometimes I make perfectly valid points, then you or someone else comes on and responds to it in a rude way. I don't want everyone to agree with my points, that's the beauty of a discussion/debate..is disagreeing.

I stopped posting for a while but due to boredom (working 30 hours a week and coming home late...with not much to do) I started participating again. This boredom is one of the reasons why I ramble, why I make long posts, it's not totally who I am all the time, so don't get that impression (you've never met me in real life, you just see how I post).

You'll find I post more in the summer when I'm not in school and once school begins, I only occasionally post on the weekends or late at night. And besides it's not like I have that many friends and or people to talk to in real life other than co-workers, parents etc. So maybe part of that has to do with it (not IMing or calling anyone). I know what your going to say "Go out and get some friends, start socializing" but it's not that easy. I'm not really into bars or dance clubs, and there wasn't much activities to do at my previous school, nor do I keep in contact with people from high school (wasn't that close to them to begin with).

Spirit, why don't you just accept these suggestions? People (especially the ones who don't understand the English language very well) don't like to read something which is 10 lines long, when the same thing can be said in 1 line. You're trying to prevent being flammed/disrespected with these long posts, but you're only impressing stupid people who think that lenght = brains. With everyone else, you're just achieving the opposite.

I will accept these suggestions but it's not something that is just going to happen over night..that I'll start making two or three line posts. I'm not stupid, I know what I am talking about. I just struggle trying to articulate it in a concise way. I have too much on my mind and I kind of let it all out on here because it's stuff I actually like talking about and don't often get to talk to people about it because for years, there was no one that shared the same interest in music as I did. And I guess I'm passionate about certain styles, sounds, ideas etc. I can't help that.

It's kind of like someone who has all of these emotions bottled up and all of a sudden they just release all of those emotions. I've gone years not meeting people into the same stuff and then I thought hey maybe people on TA might actually talk to me and know what I am talking about when it comes to music. It's not like Trance and other electronic music is what most people I've met over the years listen to...are passionate about.

I've quite clearly said you're not full of shit in the very last post:

The only time you're full of shit is when you claim to be some sort of deep-thinking philosopher in defence of your verbosity.

No I'm not. What I'm going to say is "None of those last two paragraphs are necessary". I don't need to know why you post so often, and I certainly don't need a deconstruction of the factors influencing your boredom. That information isn't important. If I wanted it, I'd ask.

I'm telling you to have confidence in the points you're making, so you don't end up over-cooking them in an attempt to be clear and helpful. Judging from the avenue you're heading down here, you don't sound a very confident person. And I don't want a psychological self-profile to explain why. Just state a point once, clearly, and then elaborate if you need to.

Well your right about confidence, I'm not the most confident. And I never said I was a deep thinking philosopher type, but I do like to think "deeply" or a little more abstract. I analyze everything (which is also due to boredom sometimes but also just curiosity). That's just who I am. Many people in real life would tell you that. I was only giving you a psychological self-profile because it helps explain why I am the way I am..why I am rambling other than because I ramble. I don't that much, because in real life, I don't talk THAT much. I'm sure there's lots of people who talk differently online than they do in life...may be shier in real life than online. All I am asking is for a little respect from you and others.

I'm not asking you to like me. Sometimes I just feel like I'm the odd man out on here. Like someone who tries really hard but doesn't get credit for at least trying (like to find a middle ground on an issue or take another view point) and I try to do it as respectfully as I can. I'm not one to flame or outright disrespect someone.

I sometimes do it unconsciously, because it's how I think/type whatever. It seems like no one "gets" my points on here so I feel forced to try explaining them as best as I can, using as many examples and analogies as I can think of. In many ways I am just trying to prevent being flammed/disrespected or my points misconstruded.

Maybe if I didn't get that and had people actually discuss things more civily with me (and others) and attempt to understand my viewpoint (but not agreeing with it), I probably wouldn't ramble on and on. It's all about how you approach it, how you say things..how you disagree with a point. Just stating that maybe treating me with a little more respect rather than ridicule or "you make pointless, long ass posts" all of the time...maybe i'd eventually stop. I wouldn't be as compelled to edit posts constantly, or ramble.

And it's funny cause in real life, I actually don't do that as much. I am talkative, but I don't talk in paragraphs but I do sometimes ramble.

lol you just did it again.

Whatever I don't realize I do it.

See this is what I am talking about...just leave me alone about it. It's not going to make me stop doing it by you guys pointing it out to me over and over. You guys act like I'm some uneducated idiot...I'm not if you'd actually get to know me a little. I'm not "Spirit5" I'm Mike from Michigan, USA and I'm 22 years old.

The question is would they become popular if they started their career with Sgt. Pepper's and not with that simple and not so quality pop (She Loves You, I Want To Hold Your Hand)? I guess they would, but maybe not that popular...

I wouldn't say their earlier stuff wasn't quality, they certainly had great songwriting even in the early stages of their career.

But the idea that quality music doesn't become mainstream is preposterous. With rock you have acts like the Beatles, the Stones, Springsteen, Dylan, Pink Floyd...I can go on and on. And in terms of electronic music you have Depeche Mode, Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim among others.
