When this all started for me I was wholly into trance and had a strong dislike for most other kinds of EDM (haha I remember the first time I ever went to Guv counting down the minutes waiting for my group of friends to leave the Gallery and make their way into the Main Room); house, for so long, seemed too repetitive, boring, and 'plain' (I continuously used to ask house addicts 'Where are the melodies? Where are my beloved build-ups?'). Over the last couple of months, however, I have developed a huge taste for dirty house: ever since I saw Sydney spin inside the Gallery near the beginning of this year my appreciation for the dirty sound has been steadily growing. Now it's gotten to the point where I spend much more time inside the Gallery than the Main Room whenever I hit up the Guv. DIRTY @ Gallery was, I'd have to say, the event that really clinched my love for filthy house beats. This past weekend I was driving my brother around Toronto and we were pounding Syd's latest CD in the car--this time last year I would never have enjoyed that kind of music but the beats were giving me shivers and making me smile so much on Saturday haha.
I do, though, have a feeling that the CD release party @ Guv this Sat will be an enjoyable night of classic trance tunes which will bring back some great memories for me (there's no way, however, that I'm missing Deko-Ze inside Gallery from 4am-6am LOL).
