That number doesn't take into consideration americans who traveled to mexico and the carribean pre-2007 (actually you don't need a passport for land travel, so the number will remain low for a while).

A higher percentage of europeans have passports because they need them to travel to every other european country. If americans needed passports to travel from NY to NJ everyone would have one also. If you take european travel out of the equation i bet europeans don't travel as much as you think. Remember that a german taking vacation in spain is like us going to florida (not really that spectacular).

Im willling to bet that americans do more traveling abroad than europeans (if you take out euros traveling to other euro countries).

even though you were a bit mistaken about the passport within EU, your premise is 100 percent correct, Europeans do travel more, but in some cases it takes less tha 2 hours for them to visit many different countries, we Americans travel alot, but where we do miss out is not having a set amount of vacation days , as does our European friends, as somebody who leans to the right I do have to agree with my friends on the left that this is a major malfunction of our system

To his defense, Trump didn't even really look like a bum.

While I've never been to Ibiza myself, I have to ask what exactly would be so exciting and educational about chilling with drunk Brits, who are the absolute worst tourists in the world? It's just like a frat party in the US.

In addition, why would you spend so much money? Ibiza is really expensive. Hell, even a trip to Amsterdam could be more interesting for the music and culture than Ibiza.

for alot of people there's nothing educational about vacationing. that said, the Brits in ibiza certainly didn't know how to act. In fact, it was worse than a frat party because at least there are some rules for frat houses.

I did spend alot of money to go there, but i don't regret it; however, i certainly won't do it again. Ironically enough, ibiza actually turned me off from the whole scene. When i left i said to myself that i'm definitely going out much less.

You want culture, go somewhere in the pacific, africa, or asia. Despite what everyone says European 'culture' isn't that different from the US and it certainly won't blow your mind. Sure, europe certainly has some cool cities, but at the end of the day they have an almost identical lifestyle. The real mind opening cultural trips are in places like Thailand, Peru, China, or almost any country in africa.

Australia comes pretty close, if not exactly close.

i take it you've never been to the grand canyon, Bryce, Zion, or Arches national parks......they are simply spectacular, there's nothing like it.

and good call klingklang, australia does have similar diversity, minus alpine and tundra.
