Personally, I think he's overrated. So far I've only heard tracks that were ok, but nothing special.

Btw. how do you speak that name "Deadmau5"? I've always been wondering if its Deadmau-five, or if the 5 is supposed to be a 1337-S which would lead to Deadmaus...

Faxing Berlin is certainly a nice track, that's all I've heard from Deadmau5. I don't know if it's good enough to warrant all the hype and whatnot but at least it's a good song.

I don't get all people who now refer to Faxing Berlin as "an average ASOT-track". Armin just picked it up and took away a bit of it's glory by doing that. I didn't hear someone complaining when Digweed was playing it back in November 2006. Of course it's overplayed now but you can still bring damage to the dancefloor with this one if you use it in a proper way.

I personally don't think he's overrated. If you check out some other productions of him, you will immediatly hear why ... Of course he's getting loads of attention now and it will be hard to come up with some original material now but I still believe that he can surprise us.

Btw, for the eleventh hundred time, it's the 5 refers to "S", which means his name should be spoken out as Deadmaus ...

Actually I had no idea armin played it, I just called it that because it sounds like the generic crap he plays on his show on a regular basis. To be honest I'm not surprised at all that he's playing it.

Faxing Berlin isn't a typical ASOT track, it's one of those more "acessible"/"easy-listening" (we can call it "cheesy" if we want to be dicks) tracks that start being played by the "cool" dj's and get popular enough to make its way into the "uncool" dj boxes. Zabiela ocasionally plays 1 or 2 of these in his sets, and it sounds good there among more "serious" music. ("damn", "this" "was" a "lot" of "quoted" "words".)

It reminds me of Pryda - Aftermath, altho that one was based on a ridiculous huge, long buildup, this one is more like a constantly running track.

Haven't heard any other tracks from this guy (Deadmau5).. Faxing Berlin is ok.

Deadmau5 has that sound i've & a lot of edm fans been looking for. He rocked my socks off in person. I am a fan for life.

As a person he is a very down to earth guy and very nice. He did a set for us live on webcam with un-released tunes. Expect to see this guy blow up in the following years...the pvd of our time.

Hmm, I'm not entirely sure what to think of the 6 or 7 tracks I heard, it doesn't seem my style of music as I prefer deeper stuff, but really wouldn't dismiss it as unoriginal or generic..

After all, Faxing Berlin is a decent track. As many have already said, it works well as a transition track. If dj'ed I would probably make a 3-4 min edit of it and occasionally sneak it in if the moment is right. All of the hype just ruined it.

Faxing Berlin was good (not great or anything) the first listen. Then it got boring the second time. It just sounds very flat with no groove or funk and very computer-y (almost machine like) with that bloody kick that is just way too loud.

I don't really understand why it's called trance though, sounds more like tech house or something (which would explain why I don't really like it).

Perhaps you should consider switching genres and start listening to something like Tom Waits. You'll never hear machine-like sounds again.
