ps. also someone please explain to me, how is Mac different from a PC from a hardware point of view that people say it's better? (apart from being a proprietary system).
I think you're assuming that's what people are saying. This thread wasn't about which hardware is better, it's about whether I should run OSX or Windows.
I don't like my mac because it's silver and has an apple on it and the keyboard lights up, I like it because of OSX, which is probably why most people say they like their mac.

what?? dude i'm pretty sure i know more than you about what a good computer consists of, i don't need a lesson here. You did not answer my question: i'd like to know the hardware differences please (mac vs pc), people say mac is better, what is so different about it from the hardware point of view that it's better.

Gera is on the mission hehe
besides, we're forgetting about custom billed PC's, when you can select the best hardware and put it together into a great machine

??????? why would you buy a mac to install windows on it, that is hilarious

i don't understand this also, how do you get creative when you switch to a different operating system, how does a better graphic presentation of a program benefit your ability to learn or understand. What is so difficult in learning the applications on a PC that you need a mac to get it? and last but not least, why can't you run Mac OS on a PC if you really really want to?
ps. also someone please explain to me, how is Mac different from a PC from a hardware point of view that people say it's better? (apart from being a proprietary system).
I understand what youre trying to say...and I am not saying its 'hard' literally....as I said earlier...I can't explain it properly but its just that the feel of a Mac, its smoothness...tends to increase your productivity and enhances your ability to create better docs, presentations etc..
And yes you are right...you should not get a Mac if all you are going to do is run Windows on it....but there are certain applications that run better on Mac and yes...there are some where you cant replace Windows....the capability of being able to switch is what Mac offers and Windows does not. I have been a Windows guy all my life...and this feature helped me a lot...slowly I just started using Macs more compared to windows..

buying a computer based on the likeness(?) of an O/S is ridiculous, especially when you overpay for the system that you purchase. O/S is software that could be installed on pretty much any system, some systems need hacking to be able to do that but as of now it is possible to install Mac OS on a PC making purchases of Macs (for your reason) absolutely pointless.

okie I'll try to explain with an example...many windows users never think about doing stuff like making their own websites, photo albums, and stuff like that but when they buy a mac and realize that they dun need stuff like Dreamweaver, Photoshop etc.. to make websites or enhance/edit photos, images, etc...but they can do all that on iWeb even though it is on a basic level...they give it a shot...
Once they are done playing around with it...they end up making blogs..they personal pages, albums on the internet...they may/may not wish to improve upon it...but often since they already have a headstart with the iWeb and similar applications...they are comparatively more motivated to work on it futher and at the same time less intimated by the whole idea of learning it...so they would play around with softwares which they otherwise would not...and once they find something that clicks for them...they get more skilled and at the same time...they produce/create stuff which they would have not been able to otherwise....
I am saying this from personal experience and by watching others..you may agree with this or not...but think about what I said...

You will be convinced you will have the most powerful notebook (until Apple comes out with the next version with a bigger hard drive) ever conceived by man OR alien.
That's all I can think of for now.
Lol...agreed

Yeah, the Mac vs. PC argument is always stupid - in the end, it all comes down to preference. Some people like oranges, some people like apples.

not anymore. MS expects ppl to use Word to create html now. you can use MS Expressions (replaced FrontPage) or Visual Studio if you want to develop in .NET.

how did i get personal? i never said Windows is the best, i actually said they are both exactly the same systems, hardware and software.
the only difference
Mac
Pro's
-better graphic interface (even though Vista is the same)
Con's
-less formats supported
-more expensive
PC
Pro's
- much cheaper
- supports everything
Con's
- more vulnerable to viruses (could be avoided by installing appropriate software, like firefox and more)
- not as graphic (even though Vista is)

i just used this as an example, there is actually a ton of (free) software available online where you can do HTML.
