Well...
Even though this thread is now old, I still feel a need to give a big 'thank you' to everyone who was kind enough to take some of their time to write me a suggestion. It is kind of heart-warming to see that so many people are willing ot give you a hint when you feel down and even this little show of care can somehow make a person feel better.
Now to some of your comments...

Sit down and write a letter that includes everything that is stressing you out at the moment and stash it away. It feels good to get it out. |
Yes, I was advised to do this in regards to hard feelings by someone else... she said she wrote a 27-page letter to her mom and then 'buried it' in her backyard to get rid of the burden of the past. And she said it helped. I guess it's true and maybe it works. I feel I'd have to write a lot of those letters, and some are not even but so negative, well, someday I guess I'm gonna get down to it

Listen to jungle music!
When I feel depressed, I always try and escape the city. I was feeling like shit last weekend and took the bus back home (near Algonquin Park). I am and always will be a country girl, so being surrounded by nature again gave me a feeling of peace. Haha, I can't even explain it. By the time I came back to Toronto, I felt rejuvenated. =) |
Yeah, same for me, I really and truly love the beauties of nature and I think it’s one of the few rare things in this world which you can always be sure are truthful and not superficial or deceitful... Like you can always go there for consolation if you need to... you know what I mean… Love for and appreciation of nature are nothing strange or that which you should feel shy over. I even based my Bachelor’s Psychology Honours thesis on this, he he... We had to do some sort of a study, so I decided to “study” whether people who live in rural environments and are surrounded by beautiful nature scenes experience less stress than those who live in inner-city environments. It was nothing extra, really just to fulfil my requirement... but it stemmed from my deep interest in the issue and my own emotions, really. And I think you’re a lucky girl to have grown up near Algonquin Park (well I’m assuming you did) ... When I was living back home in my former country Slovakia, I lived in a rather ugly suburb of apartment blocks (it is, even today, sometimes referred to as a ‘ghetto’ by the locals ) in our capital city and I mostly disliked it and always wished to have a home near the big mountains on the other side of the country so I could look at them everyday...

Hi Kamka,
You don't need to pay money to exercise. A great way to feel better is to put on some good music of your choice (house for me, trance for others, or whatever your preference is) on your ipod and go for a jog outside somewhere nice. I usually go jog near my house, or somewhere in the park. You will feel so much better! You could even go to sauna after. Most gyms offer trial passes, so you can go for free, and they usually don't even check it, so you can use it multiple times. After that, take a nice refreshing bath and read a good book:P Trust me, this really works...Hope you feel better!
BTW, I am usually willing to listen if someone wants to vent!
XOXOXOX |
Thank you very much for your kind suggestions and offer! I’ll look into it someday soon!

+1.
I love listening to jazz music. I never get sick of it. I am also a big fan of classical music. When I need a bit of relxation time, I light some candles, put on some of my favourite classical or jazz music and read a book or have a nice bath. |
Me too! I think you’re a lot like me I like different kinds of jazz music too, both the older styles and more modern form, like one that has elements of pop... sort of like this one (I’m not sure if it’s strictly characterised as jazz, but nevertheless: http://www.misha.sk/update/albums/mishacd2/2.mp3) Or more old-fashioned, like “Meeee aaaaaannd Mrs. Mrs. Joones”... oh, awesome And I like classical music too, for example “Gymnopédies 1 & 3” by Eric Satie are beautiful.
And now to my own suggestions...
When you feel anxious:
-do some sort of mind-occupying activity, like a puzzle or start to fold origami
-ride a roller-coaster (a really hard-core one, that will make you scream out your anxiety) - I seriously found in the past that this works!
-go take a walk in the park
-go for a bout of exercise
-make something nice and calming to eat, like cookies and exotic aromatic tea
-play with your pet
-cuddle with your loved one
So.. hopefully this thread is gonna give good suggestions to anyone who feels down...
Bye-bye...
