actually it is the fault of the producer...only a poor workman complains of his tools.

it would be the same when you create your bassdrum everytime from a sine generator and post process it. i prefer my own ready to use samples..
I agree with that, but you are saying the JP does not cut well through the mix, and that is your own preference, and not something wrong with the JP itself. I have a JP and i think it cuts perfectly through the mix.

I also want to add, that i love the fat rich darkness in when playing the lower notes on the JP, sounds so great! the main reason i wont sell it.

What is that supposed to mean? A bad worksman does indeed blame his tools. But what do you expect from any supersaw based sound which works like a series of stacked saw wave oscillators (each one containing all harmonics in linearly descending intensity)?

In physical terms the basis of a supersaw sound takes up alot of space in the mix because it has so many regular harmonics. Something has to give. If you want to have a massive Airwave type pad with the filter cutoff fully open and high RMS peak level, you have to acknowledge that theres simply no way of fitting it into the proverbial box without making space for it or by recessing other instruments around it.

You of all people will be aware that digital production is very much a case of working within limits - 0dB being the lid of your box and its dynamic range being its vertical dimension, its frequency range being the horizontal dimension and its phase offset being its depth.

no fear, i'm absolutely able to release top mixed tunes. but i really like how everybody protects a overhyped synth.

and for me one of the biggest problem with the jp supersaws is that they don't cut proper through a complex mix. they just go under.

What supersaw do you prefer? If you wan't it to cut throught he mix more just add some 4k o_O Your supersaw in 'Tension' here http://www.solarproject.ch/?content=disco definatly doesn't cut through the mix, but it's definatly not the rolands fault. Needs more at either 2.5-4k or 12-16k. or alittle mix of both.. and overall volume could come up a few db.

Why did you seem to take this link http://www.solarproject.ch out of your profile homepage after making this post?

And the Airwave pad was made on the jp8000 of course, along with countless other pads/leads from top tracks and producers like Armin and FerryCorsten/System F, so it's definatly not a problem with the JP if ya can't get it to cut through the mix.

yeah... but listen to those songs. they are ALL jp8080, and not much else. that is his point.

I'm not protecting any 'overhyped' synth and this is a huge strawman.

An instrument is just something that makes a sound. If you can't make it sound good then that is a failure on the part of the musician to utilize their instrument to its fullest extent. It is not an inherant failure of the instrument.

Quit making excuses and roll with the punches. I've made countless instruments sound shit and still do. And again, even with cheap softsynths the problem is always my failure to use my tools appropriately. I can say categorically that I have never used even the most basic synthesizer to its fullest extent nor do I always make appropriate mixing decisions on where to put it in the mix. Not even half.

i don't think those tracks were released and produced in 2007. fro todays standard they are mixed very bad.

and for the homepage, if you want to judge my mixing go to audiojelly or any other music store..
