I have a pair of the KRK RP-8's.. and I love em! Inexpensive, reliable, and plenty loud. Paid right about $430 out the door, with tax. I tested them all out; up to the $499 BlueSky's and $599 Dynaudio's. My budget limited me to $600. Seeing and hearing them proved that they were certainly not half the quality of the others, yet had half the price. I was sold.

They play reasonably low and are quite clear. They sound fantastic when used with the KRK 10" sub (next thing on my list). The setup would run you around $800 retail, with sub.

They have sounded smoother since Ive racked up some miles on them. I have over 200 hours on them, and they have never let me down yet. One gripe: Their power cord connector is a total POS. Almost seems as if you touch/brush up against the cord (for whatever reason) it will unplug itself. I used a cable holder and attached it to an existing hole. There is no issues with power now.

I would drop by your local GC/pro audio store and take a listen. If you like what you hear, you will definately like what you see (sheer quality and price). Beat on them... you might be quite impressed.

I picked up a pair of Behringer Truth B2031A's about a month ago and now that I've racked up some hours on them I can honestly say I absolutely love them. The bass is great considering they're monitor speakers, also they can get loud as hell. I've heard nothing but bad comments about other Behringer products but I can honestly say I couldn't be more happy with the truth's. i got some Canare L-4E6S Starquad XLR cables going to them. i don't know how they compare to the KRK RP8's but if they're not as good they have to at least give them a run for their money

I got them price matched off the web at Sam Ash in store for 279.99 new. Amazing bang for the buck I must say.

That's an awesome price for the 2031A's. I have a pair as well and have been really happy with them so far. As far as parties go, I'd say they might be pushed a little too hard if you get in a decent sized room. However, for making mixes in your bedroom- perfect. Definitely sufficient power for that- and they sound great.

i don't remember if i already wrote something on this thread or not...but whatever....

got some KRK PASSIVE (!!!) ST-8's off ebay about a month back hooked up to my big ass NAD T760 amplifier. Pretty happy about it! cost me 280$ including shipping to Canada. I got screwed over at the door with border brokerage fees of 100$, but I still think I got a decent deal. They sound amazing but I also think I may need a sub.

I recently listened to KRK RP6 in a store and I was not impressed compared to my denon AMP + old Boston bookshelf speakers.
It sounded a tad more flat which is exactly the point of monitors designed for producing.

So my question guys, is why in majority you use studio monitors for DJ'ing at home instead of a traditional amp + speakers ?

I got lucky. There's a site parkaveelctronic.com that I found on google shopping and the guy at Sam Ash matched it. He didn't realize that shipping was like 45 bucks so he didn't add that to the price even though he's supposed to.

edit: I think you'll be quite happy with them.

Ah I see.

I got them online for 270 plus $25 shipping. so $295 total.

I checked a 3 guitar centers in my area and none had them in stock for me to try to price match so i don't have to wait for them to be shipped.

Anyway, they should be here by next week.

very excited
