deejaying wasn't born with one guy showing what he can do with two records playing music that doesn't matter. it was born with one guy choosing the music that will be played. track selection is far more important than skills. only puristic bedroom deejays believe otherwise.
ofcourse nobody wants to listen train wrecking all night long, but i would rather listen to average skilled deejay play records that i love than excellent skilled deejay play music that i don't like. |
+1billion
The list of my favourite dj's would probably be:
M.A.N.D.Y. (very very energetic sets, really cool stuff)
James Holden (i know he isn't great technically, but i like what he plays)
Joris Voorn (almost as good as a producer, which is very very very good)
John Tejada (this guy is quite consistent)
Sven Vath (only occasionally, has GREAT sets and really uninteresting ones)
James Zabiela (unfortunately i get the impressions he's gone downhill this year, too much deadmau5 for me, used to be absolutely brilliant 1 or 2 years ago)
Funk D'Void
plus these guys from TA:
Francesco Ferri (spot on track selection, almost every mix is fucking awesome)
Mark Asbrey (same, his mixes this year for the amateur DJs forum have been absolute killers)
Haak (haven't heard anything from him in a while though, used to make a similar kind of sets)
Sand Leaper
Kopernikus (great track selection, a bit poor on flow however)
honourable local mention to:
Michael C (unfortunately has fucked off to the UK and re-named himself Jacques-something, used to be a class dj live, both as the main dj and as an opener)
