I don't understand the "trying as an adult" thing when they're not adults. Why can't I be considered an adult when I go and try to buy alcohol?

Can you please enlighten everyone on how you would handle a child that refuses to stop playing video games? Would you calmly "talk" to the child and hope they listen to reason? Come on with it.

My parents got the wooden spoon out on me all the time.

Talking? lol.

Guys, think about when you were children... Would you do anything your parents told you? Come on. I STILL don't do anything anyone tells me. Real consequences are needed. IMO, opening up a can on their ass is the best way.

We're not talking about beating the shit out of them, we're talking about a paddle and a "go and sit in the corner".

Some of you are seriously thick.

How can you justify a child planning to murder his parents? Seriously?

Firsty I wouldn't raise my child in a way where he would think that the best thing to do is playing video games.
Secondly I don't think I'm stereo-typing that much, cause bullshit like this always comes out of America. Kid trying to kill his parents? That had never happened in Europe.
And there definitely are some other things which are just like that, it only happens in America, maybe some day it will happen in Europe, but thank god we haven't degradated to that level. Not yet at least.

Yeah, but she didn't die! It was ATTEMPTED murder, and the guy didn't even raise a finger; he was hiring someone. Yes, there are cases where kids won't reform, but I feel mothers should always have a hope and do the most they can to try and teach their kids right from wrong. Anyway, perhaps the mother thought the only way this kid would learn is to spend some time in jail; I disagree (if I were a parent) but then again, I would make sure the kid didn't mod his PS; I'd buy him all the games he wanted! lol
