Wow. I had to walk away and take a break b4 I could finish reading this thread. Without even listening to the interview all I have to say is this....
Isn't it about the music? Seriously. I like Armin. I like Tiesto. If you like what a DJ's playing then listen to it. If not, don't. When you reach the "level" of popularity that these DJ's are at a large part of what they do becomes business. It flat out sucks, but it's the truth. I don't doubt for one second that they don't love the music, but producers and agents and promoters all want to get paid. It's just the world we live in. So many ppl talk about Armin and Tiesto and PvD "selling out". Face it, ppl, "fans", like what they do and have made them popular. Do all these "fans" really appreciate what these DJ's do/have done? Doubtful. But they'll pay to see them. I'll be the first to agree that DJ Mag's list is a popularity contest. But that doesn't mean these guys haven't all done some amazing things for the music we love. Armin is a person too and is entitled to his opinion as we all are. That does not make him right or wrong. It's just his opinion. What should matter, in my humble opinion, is the music he plays/produces. You either appreciate it or you don't. So instead of hating and debating why can't we each just take what makes us happy, whatever that may be, and enjoy it??? Right now, in my boring apartment, that happens to be ClubLife 32.......
