Edit: I shouldn't say that about all of them, though. The ones who respect their religion are a bit more humble are definitely beautiful people. The other ones are like George describes of his English players.

And you, Mr. Smiley, if you watch them play and their heart isn't in it, chances are they SUCK and it has nothing to do with pride for England, ffs. Talk about making gross assumptions!

Edit2:

And just to fill out the whole profile here, because you do give me sufficient attention when I was in Saudi for 13 years I lived with Aussies for most of them and they taught me how to play cricket (lol yes I'm that good!! LOL!!) then I played for my boys' school in Toronto for 4 years and won various bowling awards (not such a big deal because Canadian players suck) but most students that played cricket in the independent school league were boarding students from the Carribean and Europe, so there were some good challenges from time to time). Highlight was a UK tour I was on in 1995 when we played Eton, Harrow, Winchester, Wellington (if I remember correctly), and a couple of other schools. We almost beat one of the public schools we played, and I can't remember which one. I was on a hat-trick and then I sprained my ankle shortly after lol what a loser.

And I've been a goalkeeper in soccer throughout grade school (1-8) and high school and also intramural in university (not for the school team, but intra-college). Did pretty well in that regard, too, if I don't say so myself!

Again, your lack of knowledge about football lets you down. We see these players playing for their clubs week in, week out, putting in amazing world beating performaces. Then we see the same players play for England, and they simply don't care. All they care about is who pays their wages. Beckham was the exception as he seemed to play miles better for England than he did for Man Utd...

I shall also add Michael Owen to that list

So, two players care about their country...

I felt the same way every time I watched the French national team play. I mean Henry or Trezeguet NEVER miss when they play for Arsenal/Juve, and suddenly, when I support the team (my ex was French) in the last World and Euro Cups, they were so disappointing. I even had my scarf and team shirt and everything!

Even in the qualifying games, France would suck. However, just because they perform well in the league games, lack of performance at the international level doesn't mean anything re: pride, imo, it means they can't perform at the higher level where the other teams have more HEART, not PRIDE, and the key difference for me is that those players like on France and England don't perform well under pressure. The other teams have a will to win, while I feel the top players give up easier instead pushing harder. Is it because they're not getting paid? I don't think so, and I'll refer to the U.S. Dream Team bball team. Those guys play for bragging rights, day in day out, whether they lose or not, and for some reason, are more reliable in the pressure situations (although it is easier to score a basket than a goal, imo.)

For me, it's not about national pride but about talent, will and performance under pressure.

So your school went on a tour to play Eton etc - you must have gone to a right posh nob's school! No wonder you seem to have no grasp on reality! That'll explain your love of seeing women hung for daring to have sex with someone!

It must have been fun in Saudi Arabia tho with loads of Aussies, I bet you were out on the piss every night chasing after the ladies! Or maybe not...

Well good for you. Unfortunately, you're not an England player, and other than the exceptions I've mentioned, none of them care, and if you ask any England fan they'll say I'm right and they'll tell you to stick to your cricket and stop trying to make out you know anything about football! (FFS you even call it soccer!!)

I don't think its really about money, pride or heart...

its simply that the national teams don't train & play enough together ... so even if the team is combined of stars, the starts sometimes can't play as a real team

That pretty much sums it up! Can't say I was that good at it though...too busy with my nose in the books, studying ways to refute arguments like yours! Mind you, your arguments are weak; just takes common sense to dismantle them!

Totally forgot about that one...good point!

(eat that Smiley, you SOCCER lover)

ps. went to my first Toronto Football Club game in the Major League Soccer league a couple of months back. Was an awesome atmosphere! I've always thought I'd have more fun at a soccer match vs. any other sport. But English hooligans like Smiley scare me

No I went to a horrible scruffy school! (Which admitidly did have a very large amount of nobs, but there's a big difference to a nob and a posh nob!)
