here's a bassline i use in my newest track:

DOWNLOAD

i layered 5 different bass sounds, playing 5 different basslines.
the single basslines are quite simple. they usualy go like this:

k---k---k---k---
xx-xxxx-xx-xxx-x
--y----y--y---y-

or

k---k---k---k---
---x-x-x----x-xx
yyy-y-y-yyy--y--

or

k---k---k---k---
x-x---x-x--x--x-
-y-yyy-y-yy-yy-y

k = kick
x = bass at high octave
y = bass at low octave

just play around with different "rhythms", and you'll get a nice groove into your basslines.

it's very easy to make intresting bl -s in FL Studio
1. in file c:\Program Files\FLStudio4\System\Config\Chords.map
u add string ",one note,"
2. in FLS run randomizer with range 2(3)
3. press seed til u get some cool bl

if bl is too complex u can set beats per bar to 2...

Cool

if u have a low bass note hitting at the same time as a kick, take the low end out or it will clash with the kick and 1 or both will give way

most of my basslines involve a sub-offbeat and at least 1 rolling one on top of that, the rolling one with a hp/bp ran over it or just the low end eqed out, fits the way i work my leads for now anyways heh
