Now, if said preference is so dominant that a person is incapable of ever forming a trustworthy relationship with someone "unlike" them, then that person is a bigot. Further to that, if the person in question rationalizes this on the premise that people of the same race (normally defined as skin colour) are superior to those who are different, and that anybody different is beneath them, then that person becomes a racist.
Racism is not slight discomfort at being surrounded by other races and cultures. That is pure evolutionary reptilian-brain survival instinct. If it were racism, then if you took a trip to Zaire and felt a little out of place, you'd be a racist. Which is of course nonsense; most people would feel out of place because it's difficult to communicate, and they're acutely aware of the fact that they look like an outsider. If I got this feeling in my own home town (which I generally don't - I guess I'm a little more accustomed to it than Mr. GQ, but I don't fault people who aren't), then I'd be a bit miffed as well. |
THANK YOU, Aaron. the way the term "racist" gets thrown aroudn and abuse is ppl on here and often in the newspapers is atroicist.
It get used far to often to simily i think sensationalize shit and get more attention things than if they'd been presented w/o the "racist" framing.
