Some cynics would say it has brought us closer to each other, but at the cost of being less in touch with those who do not share the same interests. They've been supplanted, many will say.
You are one of the fortunate ones technology has benefitted positively. But for every feel-good useage of technology, there is the flip side, where it is becoming increasingly difficult to come into real contact with people. Face-to-face is being heavily replaced/supplemented with token texts, emails, electronic communication if you will. It's not the same thing.
Critics argue that humans are spending too much time in isolation, watching tv, surfing the net, playing computer games rather than spending time with one another in their homes, communities and beyond. Heck, it's even contributing to North American obesity rates. We could debate this endlessly...
