Lights, sound and set-up is one of the best Montreal has ever seen, and keep in mind that it's a semi-massive, not 15,000 people. What a great party, Tribe hit that one out of the park.
I wasn't anticipating Sasha and Digweed at all. I always find Sasha a little bit fluffy-melody, and digweed was a little boring to my tastes at Cream... but they fckn blew me away. It was everything I love about EDM, dark, electric, no vocals, complex, percs, sticks, more electricity, crazy buildups. And damn it was HARD. Spastik and Violet sounded really bad ass on that system.
Yup, Techno is back. Chunky dark slow minimal tech... No e-pit, just people dancing like crazy all night. Sasha dropped buildups bombs, digweed had a great flow. It was really good.
Opinions varied a lot on the dancefloor, Sander K was very commercial, elecrto type. It was nicely done, no doubt about that, and 50-50% look happy from the change. Nice wink to old schoolers with Green Velvet Flash and a remix of Meet her at Love Parade... But for me, it was a way more obvious set, and was still inspired by the sounds of Sasha-Digweed.
Probably the best overall music I heard in a massive (or semi-massive ;-)
