Excellent, the yearly "trance is dead" post.

"It is not the fans, the DJs, the venues, the culture or the music itself which is killing Trance music, it is people who overanalyse everything in a record instead of simply listening to it. "

Not really, if you actually think about it.

What 5 people say on a message board has absolutely no bearing on where trance is going (obviously). These posts and blogs make absolutely no difference as to what is produced, no difference to what Armin plays on ASOT, no difference to Tiesto's playlists, no difference to what A&B's next single will be, and no difference in ticket sales. Also, nothing is killing trance, trance is actually on the up and up in its newer markets. Mr. Scott's post seems more like a knee-jerk reaction to a blog that rubbed him the wrong way (no offense intended by that btw), in reality the opinion of a minority of music lovers on the internet really counts for jack squat. At most, it might influence a few kids to try some different genres or second guess their music taste, but in the grand scheme of things, negativity on the internet has 0 impact on trance.

Love this line -

"It certainly isn’t in the super-clubs, where Armani Exchange-adorned dorks with glow sticks and bottle-service tables have turned the trance scene into a satire about the shallowness of contemporary capitalism."
