Well isnt it in the last few generations that nintendo has come third in the console wars? .... for them to now be beating sony says something... (to both microsoft and sony)

The wii aint a HD console, doesn't play movies, doesn't play music cd's and is simply a game console.

the article is talking about total sales, wii came out before the ps3 & the 360, it's saying that ps3 sales are picking up...
If sony and microsoft can drop their prices again i seriously doubt you'll see wii outselling anything...

why? they're aiming for a completely different market. wii's are a casual system for the whole family.

While I'd never buy a wii, it is innovative and people like it.
i own both simply because one does not offer the same as the other....trust me graphics aside, the wii is brilliant....my 4 y.o nephew bashes tennis with me....he'd have no clue playing fifa08 on the ps3....good for what it is.

Oh wow, I didn't know that.
And Warner Bros aren't liars either. Even though just a few weeks ago they said they're not changing to one format... and then initally when the bluray announcement was made, they denied to comment on the whole paid by BDA thing up until now.
Paramount also deny to have taken money from the HD DVD group. hah, yeah right.
Come to reality, money talks.
(There's also the incentive of being able to screw their competitors over who are HD DVD only.)
sunrise, you'll just have to accept that bluray has become favoured over hd dvd for whatever number of reasons. thats just from a series of business and marketing decisions, be they bad or good.
this isn't going to be like when DVD came out and took the best features of the 2 rival formats at the time, neither party will back down, and hd dvd looks to lose.
having the blu-ray component in ps3s gives sony a huge advantage as it puts blu ray units in houses.
I dont think it matters hugely now, as everything is still coming out on dvd, people aren't generally going to upgrade JUST for movies YET. but because someone may own a ps3, they might buy a couple of movies to watch on it in blu-ray, just because they can. when it eventually comes time to upgrade thier dvd player, they will more likely then go blu-ray.
