The boat is ok. Sounds is not all that. SnD usually do it the evening after the night they play together at the conference. I have been on th e boat since the first one, and the vibe is getting worse every year. The time when Desyn played was great, 2004 with JZ was better. But honestly, SnD really do not like doing that party anymore. They do it for media exposure and other reasons, not to play a mind blowing set. Big sponsors pay for it, and that is how they pay SnD for such a small party. It is very commercial.
I kind of laugh at everyone who goes crazy for the tracklist from the boat. It was never anything they didn't play at one (if not ALL) of their other gigs at conference.
If you want a good boat party this year....
One+One
or
S.O.S
Best party I ever attended @ WMC was the first Ultra on the beach. I dunno if it was the first or 2nd year. I know I went in 99, but 98 was also on the beach I believe. Ultra is way past it's shelf life now. In fact, at Ultra 10 this year, Rabbit in the moon will probably do the same live performance they did at the 1st ultra.
I am not going to bash, like I said.... The first one was the best thing ever at the WMC, that is why Ultra is still going on today.
Other favs:
DT's old Birthday Marathons at the old space venue.
BBC's Radio 1's older free not so crowded parties, with good DJ's playing more than a half-an hour.
First Ultra Carry on @ AA arena with Hernan and JZ, then SnD, 3/05
Creamer n K, Scumfrog, Peace Division, Lexicon Ave, Holden, Jody, and others @ Maze 3/21/03
Sasha and Digweed's legendary set @ Opium Garden in 2004. Part of it was the Essential mix from the conference that year.
EDIT one more:
Breakfast in Bed: Dave Ralph, D:Fuse, Hiratzka...
