First I want to say thanks to Donnie for making me feel at home. It was a pleasure meeting you, Julia, Mario, and a slew of others throughout the night.
Here's my review:
I arrive at 10:15 and guess what, the line is long and pretty much not moving at all. I had purchased my pre-sale ticket but wasn't sure about if the club had more organization in a line. Apparently, the line I was in was for the people who were on some sort of reduced list. There was lot's of those. Donnie calls me up at around 11:20 and I had only moved about 15 feet. He gets me and we move up to the very front where Julia and company were. It took about 20 more minutes to finally get in at that point.
Ok, I get inside and am liking the building's architecture. We grab some drinks and proceed to take a quick tour of the place since this is my first time. The main room's visuals, lighting, are top notch. The sound is good also. Last night there was a lot of people, so the main room floor was not big enough to get your groove on. Pretty much, I was upstairs on the sides dancing. I did appreciate all the seating upstairs which was available to everybody.
As for the other room, it could use just a little more bass. I understand the concept is not to overpower that main room, but in that place, it will not happen.
Anyhow, this was the first time to hear Trent play and I was pleased. I'm not sure what time Sander came out, but it was close to 1. He played a good variety and kept the floor rocking for the most part. I'm not sure what time he started to do his DVDJ set, but I liked what I saw and heard. I know from about 4-5 he was doing the DVDJ thing.
The upstairs room dj's were holding it down. This is where I would let loose a little more. Good job to those up that way for keeping those beats going.
We left at close to 5 and there seemed to still be quite a bit of people in the club. So, I couldn't tell ya what time Sander actually finished or the place closed.
All in all, a good night and I look forwarding to partying it up with more of ya'll in the future!

Hey Ray!
Same here, my friend. I'm glad we got to hang out. Looking forward to it again sometime...perhaps when you get back? BTW: Your CD f-ing ROCKS! It was like I was still back at the club hearing Sander's set, all the way home! lol. I'll have to make it out to one of your shows, so keep me posted on that.
I agree about the patio needing more bass. Always thought that myself. It may be a matter of not disturbing the neighbors though as to why they keep it so minimal, because that patio has an open-air sky-light. Even when it's covered, I think it's only by a bit of canvas awning.
GREAT night over-all, I must say. So glad I got to hear a Trent set finally! Damn, if I'd known he was coming back on after Sander, I may have stayed until the bar opened again!
It was ABNORMALLY packed. It's been awhile since I've seen the lines that crazy at Avalon. Why they don't add another person to that discount line to check names and hand out the tickets, I can't say...but it would certainly have sped things up!
But as always, once inside, good nights blow right past in no time...
EDIT: Oh, and I think the Washers must be reading the TA board; I didn't see one washer all night.

It was good to finally meet you! I love your review. Let us know next time you're out here in LA again so we can meet up and hang out! I will take a listen to your CD soon and give you my review.
I thought Sander was really good, a lot better than the last time I saw him play before Adam Beyer a couple months ago. It was way too packed on the dance floor, so we had to stand upstairs on the bleachers most of the night, where the sound isn't as good.
I must say though... the high light of my night was the good company I had.

I havent had so many friends in a club i think since my last bday. Everywhere i went i saw friends, and they were all having a blast. I thought sander played great as well. But the line was an absolute mess. I love all the cracked out asians that just wander right to the front of the lines and mesh in. And once they are in, at like 11PM they are already fucked up holding their heads sitting on the dance floor. At some point they should just start tossing those cracked out asians out. It ruins the party for all the other paying patrons at the place.
