There's not enough compression.
...at least for my tastes anyway. I'm not exactly knowledgeable on these things, but generally one of the things I love about psy is how "clean" the elements are; how everything is very distinct, and it's generally due to producers using a compression algorithm at the end, which makes the quieter elements of the track louder, making everything clearer overall. I've heard psy producers criticised for over- compression too.
The 00.db tracks are a bit muddy I find; the elements aren't clear enough from one another. Other than that, pretty perfect. |

i agree, a bit like wizzy noise's productions, alot of the "all over the shop" types of sounds but then again most of Joofs psy is like this too.
both of them need a date with Mrs. compression a little bit other than that i love what they are doing with the fusion of psy and trance. |
Hehe! I just worked out how to quote multiple posts...Man, this dinosaur of a Forum machine is making you work hard for something simple like this...
OK! After reading you guys posts, a stone the size of a megabolder fell from my conscience. When I first got my hands on the release some five to six weeks ago, El asked me how I liked it and I told her that I feel like a bitter old man saying this but something is not 100 with the way Heaven&Hell sounds, particulary when you have been listening to non-british Psy about 95% of the time...
Anyway, I kept on listening to it daily once or twice and after a couple of weeks I got with it. What I was hearing was a juxtaposition of sound between Wizzy Noise (predominantly) and Astral Projection(secondary) spiced up with Stock British Euphoric Trance and some deep, dark somewhat medieval psy-ish elements from anywhere between King Arthur's era and the Gnostic Monks of the 14th Centrury AD - in short: John 00 Fleming's signature sound.
Yes, it sounds like someone in the mastering room forgot to press the right buttons initially but ultimately this very fact is more a blessing then it is a curse because not only does it give us a further facet of Trance but also a further reason to fly our flag high.
The tracks, left alone the sound, are brilliant productions and I am very impressed how cohesive and well developed the material is. John seems to be at his heart the uncompromising Trance supporter we want him to be and that is what counts first and foremost.
I just wish I could get my dirty little hands on wav. files of this material so I can mix it...and play it before anyone else does....
