I definately expected montreal to do something big and they did...just not what everyone thought they would do. It could be a good trade for the future but they needed something to put them over the top for this year.

And depending on if you live at CFB Kingston your cost of living is probably very low as well, but even if you weren't cost of living in Kingston isn't that bad. Its only $30 which is cheaper than most nights at Stereo. Most of us on here who post about Stereo have put out probably hundreds and hundreds of dollars clubbing there just this year alone, and have never really complained for the most part. I know I sure as hell have.

So what happens if Price tanks it? Jesus Christ...I know that Bob was part of something special in 86 when Roy took the reigns at age 21 or whatever, but to hope for a repeat of that is a little much this time around. WE NEEDED MORE SCORING and couldn't even add a fucking 15-20 goal scorer like Tanguay. Why weren't we in the mix for Richards, Prospal, etc...

Did Gainey try ANYTHING???

We kept hearing how Montreal was going to be the biggest buyer and we end up with fuck all. Do players not want to come to Montreal or what? The current team is good (far from great) and needed an injection of offense to contend this year.

We didn't get that and I see a first or second round playoff exit on the horizon. In fact, I won't be surprised if we slip down the standings and get absolutely blitzed by New Jersey right off the get go.

just ridiculous

I dont think that gainey really screwed up. To get Hossa, he would have probably given up Higgins + a draft pic, maybe someone else. Higgins is a great player with a lot of potential. And he fits nicely in the team. Montreal has some special connection going lately, and its not worth screwing it up for Hossa, who doesnt have a great history in the playoffs anyway. If you notice, Pittsburgh let go of Armstrong, and now the Crosby Armstrong connection that has been amazing no longer exists. I dont think it was the best deal for pittsburgh, especially since they have so many players doing their job properly.
As far as the Huet trade, Im not too sure about that, but at least they got a second round pick instead of nothing, which would have been the case at the end of the season. Even Huet said that he didnt play solid the last three weeks. Price can do it. I just fear the immense pressure from the fans and media. Hopefully things will go well.

Hey, at least we dont have to worry about Hossa scoring a few on us tonight :P

with the addition of Hossa, Pittsburgh's Power Play will only need a min to score....

After thinking it over a bit more, I'm really happy we didn't blow our wad the way Pittsburgh did on Hossa. The Huet move is an obvious gamble, but frees up cap-room for next year to strengthen. Here's to hoping Pricey will do the job, have faith bitches!

Pittsburgh's problem is it's back end, imo. But they have lots of forwards. Colby Armstrong is not a top six forward, imo, so he was expendable. Hossa on the other hand is a stud.. they are moving into their arena in about two years so this team is on the rise off and on the ice.

I wish you guys posted about hockey all season

I feel for you Habs fans...personally as a Colorado Avalanche fan I'm happy. Don't think we are going to win a Cup but Giguere made some nice moves to appease Colorado fans. Glad to see Foote and Forsberg in the burgundy and blue, it has been a great 48hrs for me. As a fan of Pittsburgh I say congrats on getting Hossa, he should help them out this year but without having looked at the cap I am not sure where they are money-wise for next year. Great addition and I gotta say Dallas did great by addring Brad Richards, he'll be a great addition.

To his defense, Trump didn't even really look like a bum.

well, as Gainey said, Atlanta wanted "3 players on the ice, in addition to another element....." so I'm guessing something like one of the Kostityns, Higgins, Ryder and a draft pick (maybe Halak, Huet or Price), etc. So...I don't know...maybe Gainey made the right move. I didn't realise the Thrashers wanted that much....way too much if it's true.

I love Bob Gainey...I mean, the guy signed my stick in 89 when I was a little ****** and was so nice to my Pops and I. Always a class act, deserves to be remembered as an elite Hab, etc. But...I wish we could have pulled off a deal. Still, a convincing win tonight, even if it was the lowly Thrashers, etc.

Live or die, I love bleu, blanc, rouge. GO HABS GO

Yeah, if the koivu/ryder/higgins line can keep playing like they did last night, then we won't need Hossa. Convincing display by Price too, the guy is living up to the pressure.
