Seems to me that the kids today either listen to shit like basshunter and cascada, or moronic 'dnb' like pendulum. Proper dance music doesn't seem to have much of a presence in the chart anymore, so there's no way for people to get into the scene.

Bollocks to the charts dude. Christ look how much electronic music has been slaughtered in the UK when tracks and acts have gone on a commercial tip. I'd much rather things be kept low key.

People can get into dance music just by discovering tracks as simple as that. We still have people like Pete Tong playing at peak times on the most popular radio station and the essential mix too, trust me there will always be a demand for edm.

It might be in an early stage of decline. There's more good, innovative stuff coming out now than in 2004-2006, but there's also a shitload of mid-range jump-up bullshit stinking up the dancefloors.

It's killing my bank balance, but I'm happy I don't have to settle for 1 good release a month anymore.

All this good stuff is coming in the next few months:

2562 - TBC (Album)
Scuba - A Mutual Antipathy (Album)
Peverelist - Infinity Is Now / Junktion
Kode9 - Konfusion
Darkstar - Need You / Squeeze My Lime
Pinch - Dr Carlson / 136 Trek
Forsaken - Hypnotised / Fighting Spirit
Whistla - Heaven / Rollerball
Burial - Stairwell / Feral Witchchild
King Midas Sound - Cool Out
Sully - Give Me Up
Late - Little Sister
TRG - Feel For You
TRG - Broken Heart (Martyn Remix)
Calenda - Forever

...and that's not even half of it.

Oh, I forgot, this is a trance thread.

Its definately not as strong as it used to be in terms of superclubs, although some do still exist or have just special event nights.

There has been some success near me in terms of Digital Society [Leeds] and Off the Rails [Sheffield]; yes ok they don't have the 'big dj's' but they are not needed, there are and have been some quality lineups for reasonable prices and the events have been top notch.
