I have to say though that the remixes of "Coma" are definitelly the most "directional" of all the EmFire tarcks which IMO (and in most cases) sound like generic and souless clinical bollocks. The dj three dub is more trancey and warm, whereas the Ki: Theory is a nice downtempo number which IMO is the best one. Still, they are nothing special.

Exactly.

So many tracks seem like they were made by people who were producing for the sake of producing, not by someone who really wanted to transform feeling into sound or sound into feeling.

It seems like lots of tracks aren't "expressions" of anything, but just the end result of semi-randomly filling in blank space in a sequencer until something "release-worthy" happens to come together.

For so many electronic musicians the "electronic" part seems to be overshadowing the "musician" part...

But who knows -- maybe I'm just being cynical or obtuse and the producers of all these effects-extravaganzas really did put feeling into each track.

Yes i totally agree with you. I don't think its just you, i think that many people feel like that when they listen to such heavy-in-effects-without-being-music music (the early prog-house and trance tracks we posted in other threads represent the opposite from this, that is, direct, in your face emotion with the effects supporting-rather then creating- the track) and i can't clearly see what kind of feeling they put in such tracks, unless we are talking about reallyyy strange feelings here...

I don't understand how any of this can be applied to Coma however. It has an easily discernernable melody or theme. The person that says otherwise hasn't listened to it.

It's also funny that you praise the DJ Three Dub which is based pretty much on the elements of the original but OMITS the melody. That completely contradicts your point.
