Honestly, I was reading through THIS TOPIC and I could only make it to like the 4th or 5th page - by the time I made it to that page of the thread I felt like a blood vessel was about to explode. I don't know if you guys choose to be ignorant, or it's plausible to state that that generally all the posters here are generally around the age of 12.
"Nobody cares about old music anymore" are some comments that I've been hearing lately. Oh really, is that why The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd continue to sell well today? Let's put it this way, released less than eight years ago, The Beatles' greatest hists album "1" (a very decent album by the way) sold almost 30 million copies. Led Zeppelin's one-off reunion managed to get
ONE MILLION people to register for tickets, easily making it the biggest concert by any single band in history.
Also let'ls make things clear, I could go on and on about Zeppelin and Floyd and how their constantly being influenced left and right today - especially Led Zeppelin, but I'll focus on The Beatles to end this rant.
The Beatles are widely accepted, regarded, cited as, put as, accepted, and any other word I could use as the greatest band in history. Also...And this is an objective, unarguable fact, they're the most important, influential, revolutionary, and groundbreaking band in history. STILL relevant today, still constnatly being cited left and right in popular culture....Do you think a Trance artist that came out today will still be important more than 40 years after they formed?
EDIT: By the way, I have over 100 hours of Trance on my computer...I love Trance and all, and I'm also not telling you guys to worship classic rock...I'm just saying get your facts straight or don't be so ignorant towards The Beatles, etc. when making claimes about them. |
Fuck off.

I tend to think that Kraftwerk is the most influential band in history. They invented Electro. Electro then went on to merge with hip hop culture. Without Electro there wouldn't be Techno, or it would be very different from what it is now. Without Electro there would have been no Freestyle explosion in the 80's, or it would have sounded much differently.
Freestyle went on to influence the form and structure of pop music even until now. Pop might have been much much different if it weren't for Kraftwerk.
Without Techno, there might not have been Trance. Some 'Trance' records might have been produced, but where would they have been played out and popularized? All the early clubs in Germany were originally populated with DJ's who played European/Detroit Techno and to an extent House music; DJ's who went on to spin the first Trance. Sven Vath, Cosmic Baby, Oliver Lieb, Paul Van Dyk, Kid Paul, Ralf Hildenbeutel, Pascal FEOS, Hardfloor...all the records they made and spun were played in clubs that had been exploding with Techno and House just a few years before.
If Trance doesn't boom in the German underground, then it probably doesn't get exported to the UK, India, and Netherlands where it later grew to immense popularity.
I'm spewing a lot of 'what if's' here, and most of what I say isn't necessarily true, but I think it's a probable series of (non)events. Without Kraftwerk, one thing is for sure...a few genres of Electronic Music wouldn't exist and most of the others would have ended up sounding very different.
