If DM5 really cared he wouldn't have messaged him with "are you closing for me in Norway" and his management obviously saw the Flyer.. I can assure you they had more then a few days to cancel him instead of making it "a big deal" the night of the show.
Giving an ultimatum after all this time has passed is a bit ridiculous.
Judge Jules was the one that said it.. Forum members make up 90% of the noise but 10% of the crowd. Just because we know there's beef doesn't mean the poor promoter knew about it.
DM5 needs to do what he was paid to do.. Unless it clearly says it in his contracts that he can not be booked along with Marcus then he should just stop his whiny prima donna bichfests.
It's just a simple joke and everyone knew it was a joke. I posted my example of previous jokes done by member of this forum. He clearly wasn't the first to be mocked and sure as hell won't be the last. |
Deadmau5 was the headliner, he can make all the demands he wants...legally his demands shouldn't have held any water, and the promoter should have just stuck to his guns and not kicked Marcus off the night.
the convo Marcus posted in his myspace blog mentions that Deadmau5 IMed him asking what the deal was...he doesnt' post the whole convo. For all we know, they never established that they were in fact playing on the same night.
about the whole thing being a joke...idk...I can clearly see why Deadmau5 wouldn't want to be on the same bill as the guy. In Marcus' blog, he says the Deadrat6 thing was purely a joke on all the Deadmau5 "copy catters." That seems like a bit of BS on his part.
Deadmau5 may be a dick head for all we know, but not many of us know him personally enough to make that call. Marcus Schossow (sp?) seems like a cool dude, and funny guy. Unfortnately in this case, he poked some fun at a dj / producer who is bigger than he is, and one that apparently has the power to call shots like he did. I'm not saying I think what Deadmau5 did was right, but obviously Deadmau5's happiness on that night was considerably more important to the promoters than their desire to have Marcus dj on the night. The promoters are the ones at fault IMO, and I hope to hell they paid Marcus his full fee that night, along with giving him a serious apology for wasting his time.

He posts pictures of himself covered in cocaine on Tranceaddict and brags about PCP binges with Tommy Lee. That alone would get any other TA banned. I think it's safe to say that the guy is "definitely" a dick head..
I gotta admit though that the guy is a fucking talent and I'm a fan of his work..I never was though until all this shit happened. I buy a lot of stuff on beatport and 50% of the tracks I end up buying are deadmau5 remixes and it's unintentional. I have a Deadmau5 track on my myspace profile atm..
Marcello,,Please put this to bed before it comes back and bites you..I'm saying that as a friend who cares about you..
From a promoters point of view I would have told the mau5 to fuck off and bought the club a drink with his fee or put on a free party the following week for the pissed off people..

The promoters are the ones who booked them and paid for them to come out and do what they are supposed to do.
But, I don't know what dj gets booked and doesn't know who else is on the bill. This mess could have been avoided if he 1. just delt with it. Play some fuking tunes and be on your way.. and 2. His management could have told the promoters from the very beginning that he won't play with Marcus! Even if it was after the flyers were printed.. Give some time to maybe book someone DM5 gets along with and give notice to the clubgoers that Marcus is cancelled.
Shit happens. It's just the reason why Marcus got booted off that is just plain stupid.
LOL @ Buraks quote from T.Nu!
I also find it funny that Tyler from TOTA said the DM5 should start banning forum members from attending his parties.
