someone gave me some acid while i was on antipsychotics and they claimed to be tripping balls but it had no effect on me at all. I think it was bunk or it could be it hindered the effects. tasted like bunk acid, good acid you know by taste.

I don't like them. It is like talking to someone who thinks they know you but they have to look at their notes whilst talking to you. Friends are better.

My ex was dealing with bipolar and depression, and seeing a psychiatrist only made it worse. The lady made various observations about her and her life which really threw her through a loop; ended up making her depression and mood swings significantly more noticeable, and started a two-week path of her questioning how she handles relationships which lead to us breaking up (for the better, now that I've had time to look back on it).
Though, that's not to say that it's a bad thing in many cases. I'm sure psychiatrists help quite well, it just depends on the varying mental states of each patient.

Just remember two things...
1. There are very few definitive, objective tests when it comes to psychological disorders.
2. While most "issues" can be dealt with by cognitive and psychotherapy, there are some diseases that do need medication.
If you keep yourself open to both facts and don't go in looking for a problem or diagnoses, just to talk about your thoughts and practices, you'll be fine. Just like any doctor, you can say "no" to medication and remember that you're the same person walking out as you were when you walked in.
I think drugs are definitely given out too regularly but there's also a HUGE stigma towards taking those drugs, even when they're needed.
