awwwwwww sooo oooold!!!! sometimes those are the best tho, because they're just chill and will lay next to you and sleep all day. |
Yeah he's the shit! He started going white about a year ago... he looks so old now like he's got a white goatee, those long whiskers came with the white fur too. Its funny, some days he doesn't feel so good so he can't always run up and say hi, so I'll hear his tail smacking against a wall and I walk around the corner and there's old bones lookin up with a grin.
He's a good dog tho sadly I doubt he has more than 2 or 3 more years left with me. He hasn't gone on a search and rescue call in about a year... i don't know if the old beast still has it in him. Now my mother uses him as a therapy dog, (shes a psychiatrist and specializes in children and PTSD), and lost of kids feel a lot more comfortable with a friendly dog to play with while they see the shrink, its less intimidating. He doesn't mind one bit, he gets to sleep all day, and when he's awake he has some kid scratching his ears or petting him. That dog loves kids too. I've never met a gentler dog. I sometimes take him to the VA hospital to visit some of the old disabled WWII and korean war vets, they love him too... he'll be missed.

You both have great looking dogs. Labs are one of the most loving animals, I don't understand how people don't like them.
Here's mine:

WOW thats a beautiful dog... wait wait what the... its a lab puppy taking a nap? HAHA their "batteries" do run out sometimes. Whats his name? Thats a handsome beast there. And I agree... how can you not love a big yellow dog that ALWAYS smiles and lives just to be with his owner? I swear even to this day my dog follows me all over the house... I go to the fridge for a beer, he's on my heels, I go back to the couch, he lies at my feet and goes to sleep. I take a shower? He lies outside in the hallway. When I go to sleep, he lies on the floor next to me. Damn good dog.

Oh man, this pictures awesome. Once I'm finally able to move off university housing I'd really like a lab. Probably my favorite breed of dog. |
Yeah he was passed out on the couch and i just scrated his head and he woke up... he looks high haha but he usually does at his age.
Yeah if you want a retriever I'd reccomend a big house (or at least a nice yard) they sure love to play, endlessly! In my experience, even a 1 hour RUN(at say a 6 minut mile pace) and that dog is still full of pep. Of course Pluto was several years younger. They love the out doors, does it snow where you are? I rememebr I used to take my dog camping in Flagstaff when he was about 4 years old in the winter, he'd go NUTS he would slide down hills on his belly as if it were a sled. Funniest thing I ever saw, at first he did it on accident then he kept goign for hours, then he rolled in the snow for a while and then passed out on the cabin floor hahaha. Be careful when you take him fishing.,.. my dog would LEAP out of my boat and attempt to retreive my bobber thinking that when I cast the line I threw a ball for him. But by far he has the most fun hunting, he DIVES into a lake swimmign as fast as he can to bring me my downed bird.

Beautiful puppy!!!
but way to hyper...i'm glad i have no puppy. lol |
One funny thing I remember about the Retreiver family of dogs that cracks me up is that when they are puppies, they paws get GINOURMOUS and their legs get so long and they look absolutely REDICULOUS and they fall and trip a lot. But they always grow into those huge bear paws. Its just funny seeing a skinny ass dog with huge paws.
