the best part was when i felt like i was floating a couple of feet above my body, so good.
when i couldn't make any settings appear i just gave up and thought ill do it next time when i read some more, then i went back into vivid dreaming

it was pretty good, and was completely unexpected, i look forward to controlling it more next time

congrats man. if you really want to train yourself to lucid dream keep a journal that you record your dreams in...this will benefit you well...helping remember your dreams is an important key to recognizing dream signs

I've been trying to lucid dream since I read through that site that was posted. I didn't really use any of the methods mentioned other than trying to keep lucid dreaming at the front of my mind whilst I tried to fall asleep.

It's 4:29am. This happened to me about 30 minutes ago. I've tried to be completly honest with what I was feeling and describe things as I saw them at the time, rather than how I remember them now.

I was on a roundabout, there was a bus stopped and a kid put his dog on. The bus then drove off before the kid got on. I tried to run around the roundabout the other way to stop the bus and suddenly I realised I was dreaming and I was back in my bed again. My ears were screaming, like the most powerful wind and it sounded like pain. I couldn't move. I've had sleep paralysis before but it's always been and gone quite fast, I've never realised til the next morning what happend. This time I was aware, I knew I was dreaming and I knew it was sleep paralysis but I couldn't control it. The following is what happened next as I remember it, I'm not 100% sure it happened in this order though. There was a cloud thing in the middle of the room, it moved like a flying carpet would and came straight for my head, then swooped around the room and did it again. Very aggressivly. There was a man standing still at the end of the bed, a bit to the left, but he looked like a column of smoke, but contained as though it was in a tall, thin glass tube.. I concentrated on moving my arm and managed to get out of bed. At this point I thought I'd broken the paralysis and that I was awake again. I moved into the centre of the room and there was something there, a pile of clothes or something, very tall (about as tall as me) and I picked up something (I think it was a pair of shorts) and dropped it, it fell sideways towards my head. I realised gravity was all fucked up and everything was being pulled towards my head instead of downwards. I sensed the cloud/towel thing in the room again and moved towards the door. As soon as I moved I was pulled towards the wall as though the room was at an angle and the wall was the new centre of gravity. I was pulling myself along the wall towards my bedroom door to try and get out, then I realised I was naked (I wasn't IRL, I had a pair of shorts on) so I couldn't leave my room. At this point I realised I was still dreaming and instantly was back in my bed again. I couldn't move and the cloud/towel was flying at me again. Once again I concentrated on moving my arm and this time I felt it move and I felt reality coming closer. Then I was awake for real. I'd been crying.

Anyway now I'm fucked up. I'm going to be totally honest, I think this may have a lot to do with drugs as I've been silly in the last 7 days and done a lot more than I usually would. I've had bad paranoia today which I think is due to some speed I took at the weekend.

When I first woke up I was petrified, and then I went calm and decided that it was a lucid dream and it was a nasty one, but if I tried again right that second I could have another one and try to control it. Afterall it's only a dream. But 5 minutes later my body was shivering, every time I got to the point of nearly falling asleep I heard whispering and woke up.

Anyway I just thought I would share this with everybody, you can draw your own conclusions. All I can say is this has made me

a) very weary about fucking with my dreams
b) very scared of falling asleep, I know I wont sleep again tonight.

That's it. I've been as honest as possible. Some of it probably sounds a bit fucked up and I probably look like a total wimp in other parts but there you go. I needed to get it all down before I forgot it.

edit: a couple more things.

I want to make sure I convey properly how completly mortifying it all was as it comes across like I was just confused, but all the way through the dream there was this raw fear in me, I was terrified and panicing.

Somebody mentioned this may not be lucid dreaming as I wasn't controlling it. I dunno, the fact that I was aware I was dreaming and aware it was sleep paralysis, and the fact I conciously bought myself out of it at the end mean that by my interpretation of things it was. But maybe I'm wrong if my interpretation of what lucid dreaming is.

Sounds like a very freaky experience Spad.. I'd definately be weary of going back to sleep. Most likely it was probably at least partially due to the drugs though.

Shame / Disagreement

bad bad Spad...drugs are bad for your dreams...you were probably suffering through extreme hallucinations...not dreaming. Just lay off the drugs...but thanks for being honest with us about everything.

My first one occured when I was about 13 (now 17) N i remember it was nite time n I was in a parking lot with my sisters (??) and a load of people were shooting at us all, then for sum fucked up reason my CDT teacher was there n thats wen i realised I was dreaming. I remember sayin "fuck u sir" to him (hahaha, this is makin me laff) n then I thought "Rite I'm dreaminm thats means I cant get hurt" so I turned around n started runnin towards the people who were shootin at me, probably to beat em up or sommat, but I woke up before i go to them

Whats teh type of dream called when ur about to have a fight n u realise that u cant punch hard n its really hard to move fast n u know ur gonna get twatted ?? Is that paralysis thingy?

Just thought i would bump this up because i just got interested in it.

Anyways after only about 3 days i was able to have a lucid dream, without writing any of them down i can still remember them pretty well.
I was in my bathroom with some girl(i dont know why) and i thought, "When am i gonna have a lucid dream.. maybe this is one" so we did a test with the mirror and i remmeber not seeing a reflection and then i was like "Yeah go away bitch" and started spinning. I was about to go to go downstairs in my house but went to my room and woke up. I'm gonna try to get more control over my dreams so i can actually fly or something cool.

Anyways these are also related to OBE's

heh, fine. i always wake up when i realize that i'm dreaming, but i only realize that when my dreams are very realistic.

shit, now you got me interested in this... that'd be so funking cool, to walk up to, say, a tv in your dream and ask it "what's the meaning of life" and to hear a legitimate lecture about the subject... freak, damn, i'm hooked on dis shiznit!

edit: question, can you somehow hurt yourself by lucid dreaming? like mentally or even worse, physically? do you absolutely have to write your dreams down?
