again, another personal attack. I'm wayyyyy off base on that comment you quoted. If you believe the print media and the pundits on TV are honest and trustworthy, god help you.

And if you think any and all opinions can be discarded because of the "liberal" media then youre nothing but another brainwashed yank without

A) any idea what liberal means, and

B) a clue about ones point of reference when it comes to identifying potential bias.

How was it you could figure that out from my posts again?

I just think you're a complete fucking idiot - the kind of nutter who buys into as many 9/11 and JFK assassination conspiracy theories as he can.

And the way I've deciphered all of this about you? You deny the existence of excessive global warming caused directly by man.

I am not all that smart an individual - not even close, and further, I'm not interested in tracking down dozens of non-wiki sources to battle here with you, so I'll point you to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scient..._climate_change

Feel free to check the citations yourself if you doubt the validity of anything on that list.

Your denying some of the best empirical data that exists gives me plenty of reason to think you're both an idiot, and a pussy, so consider this entire post one long winded, poorly referenced, personal attack.

Thank you for proving my point. I'm telling you that I have the opinions/beliefs I do BECAUSE I've read and studied both sides. You are being pushed in the direction you are because of political bullshit, and the super slanted agenda driven liberal media... so that is what you are reading and researching. I don't blindly believe what people tell me to believe, I look at both sides, then come up with a reasonable idea. After you read the book I suggested, and get at least an idea about the side you aren't even willing to listen to, then you can comment on who is ignorant. Until then, take it easy with the personal attacks man... I never tried to make this personal on anyone. Jesus

Here are the sides, pay attention because this is what is actually happening in real life right now:

A. Reality. What exists concretely in the world. Knowledge and factual information collected over time by individuals highly specialized and knowledgable in their fields. Widely held consensus. General fact.

B. The following statements by you:
quote:
So what if we have doubled the amount of carbon dioxide we've put into the air in 25 years? it used to be 16 out of every 100,000 molecules in the air were CO2, and now it's 32 out of every 100,000... if you look at the context of that, you'll see it makes no difference.

quote:
I'm not saying pollution doesn't exist, I'm saying it's not the fucking dire emergency that people make it out to be.

quote:
but the fact is that for at least 15 or 20 years, oil is the engine that drives the economy, and there is nothing even remotely close to replacing it.

Which are vague, nonsensical, and largely factually wrong.

This is not a debate of viewpoints. The only person here with a "viewpoint" is you, I am attempting to explain to you what is actually the case in real life, on this planet.

On this planet, the CO2 we are extracting from its underground depths and pumping into the atosphere at (currently) 28 billion tons per year, has a profound effect on many other things than just climate.

Pollution on earth is very much real, and very much devastating, had you actually read that book I recommended, you would understand this, and everything I'm about to briefly explain.

For the next 15 to 20 years, oil probably will continue to run the world, especially with folks like you so adamant anout keeping the pumps flowing and refusing anything else, and we probably will double, triple, quadruple our emissions and carbon output. More reefs in the ocean will die, destroying entire eco-systems because of the rate at which the ocean is having to absorb carbon from the atmosphere. Billions more tons of plastic, trash, and runoff will invariably make their way to the sea. Landfills in major cities will continue to expand. Stockpiles of tires will reach mind boggling sizes. Thousands, millions of acres of rainforest, which could offer the best buffer against rising CO2 levels, will continue to be decimated. The list goes on of problems with the earth's health. Once again, these are all actually HAPPENING. You cannot argue against these if you believe in common sense and reality.

In essense, you can choose A squad or B squad. By acknowledging A squad, you can start helping find solutions, and stop cock blocking people who are spending their lives trying to tackle these complex and important problems. By staying on B squad, you are aiding and abetting everything I just wrote about in the above paragraph. Take your pick.

pkcRAISTLIN- shut the fuck up. In the context of the american media, the world "liberal" has a meaning different than whatever you look up in the dictionary. What the hell you do know? Unreal.

For the other guy... Wikipidia is the end all be all of fact? Oh shit... ok. I can provide plenty of examples of FACTUAL information that shoot plenty of holes in the THEORY you are buying into. You're looking at trees, not the forest man. The earth warms up, it cools... ocean temps go through cycles, etc. There was a global cooling scare in the 1970's, and through the natural up and down cycle, it changes. Check out these links and read the recent articles. Earth actually in a cooling cycle since 2003... probably headed for 10 years of cooling (information from NASA, not from me. But if it's not being fed to you by the New York Times or NBC, you probably won't put any credence into it.

oh, so its ok that ignorant yanks like yourself continue to twist the real, accepted meanings that were derived well before the democratic or republican parties?

I read your post again... dude I'm not denying that pollution is happening. I'm saying that it's not do or die time for us, and there's nothing wrong with pumping out that oil while we continue to search other sources. We produce. According to the US Dept. of Energy, US oil production has fallen 40% since 1985 while consumption's grown more than 30%. In real barrels, US oil production is now below five million barrels a day. It was approximately nine million barrels a day in 1985. So our production has been cut in half in 20 years.

I'm all about innovation man, and all for the private sector doing what they do best in creating better and more evolved standards of living however necessary. But as a capitalist economy needs growth, we can't just bleed dry the production of oil now when we need it. we need more supply that we have, so let's get it

You're still on B squad if you think that.

If you are not currently concerned by what is happening to the earth right now in the ecological and natural sense because of human impact, you should read more.

well, actually the gist of my main complaint was that anyone that bitches about the "liberal" bias of corporate entities is a fucking halfwit that knows nothing about liberal democracy and capitalism.

I'm slightly concerned about the human impact... but not to where it's impacting my life in any way or causing me to loose sleep, and I don't think I should feel guilty about that. I have bigger fish to fry in regular day to day life. I'm telling you man, I read a lot.... Maybe it is because of what I read vs. what you read that puts our level of concern in different places. I totally understand what you are saying, and I'm not a hater for those who want to change things for the better... There are things on both sides of this argument that could be done now to help make things better, but aren't, and that's what drives me crazy.

For the Aussie... I understand how a democracy works. I'm done with you

Again, if you are not concerned, you are not aware of the important environmental happenings going on right now. The scientific community is well aware.
